I was reading a book in music theory today, and the teacher asked me a question. I looked up cordially and everybody in the room looked at me, knowing I had no idea what was going on.
I paused, looked at the board, and just blurted out "two"
The teacher replied with "yes, but more than that..."
"um," I replied. "er...seventh?"
The teacher made that expression like he was expecting me to say something else.
"with a tension?"
Same expression.
"a thirteenth?"
Either I was getting lucky or he was just teasing me.
"A flat thirteenth"
"there ya go..."
It turns out that was the answer. I figured out afterwards what he was talking about, but holy shit that was weird to just guess randomly and have it turn out to be exactly right O.o
