Ok I tried this about a few years ago. All you need is 1 Glass Jar, Vinager, Salt and a few Quarters.

Fill the glass jar with Vinager and salt
Then put the quarters in the jar.

Since Vinager and salt are acids, you will have holes in the Quarters after 24 hrs.

Ive still got the quarters that we tried it on

Yes, I used to do that as a child.  I enjoy sticking random things in the mircrowave (However, while this may be cool, I advise all kids NOT to try this at home).

You can do explosive detergent ballz  (not deadly in any way )

I've done this a couple of times before, my only recommendation is DO IT OUTDOORS

In a bottle throw in a liter of water, a handful of lime and mix it.
Throw the aluminium inside and hook a rubber tube to the bottle.
Then wait a while until all the oxygen is gone, and throw the rubber tube into a pail with water and detergent...

The detergent bubbles will "explode" if you ignite them 

This explosion isn't dangerous, since it's ephemeral and detergent isn't a granade, but JIC use gloves

its illegal to melt/destroy/sell Official u.s. money. which is why you cant take an old penny and sell it for its copper value.

I've stuck soap and various vegetables in the microwave. Although tin foil has to be my favourite thing to stick in the microwave; it creates a pretty lights show.

For my chem final project, I got to demonstrate the exothermic properties of thermite by letting it melt through about 12 inches of stuff.

Stick a marshmallow in the microwave and watch what happens.

This is so much fun. Melt a little bit of chocolate in a bowl for 30 seconds, stir and add a little bit of peanut butter and 2 marshmallows on top, melt for 30 more seconds, mix and refrigerate. Next day, pop it out and eat with a knife and a spoon
