Is there any way to shorten Shostakovich? "Vich"? Perhaps more (very) loosely, "Vick"?

Ah, FF1 memories.

If you download an emulator and ROM to play it on your computer, I would suggest this party next go around: 1 Fighter, 3 Black Mages.  Kill the Mages as soon as possible, and then all XP will go straight to the Fighter.  He will level up 4 times faster and it makes for a very interesting game.  The only reason I suggest using an emulator for that set up is because of the Crawl fights in the Earth/Marsh caves.  Their stun ability is extremely annoying and it's nice to be able to reset from an earlier save state.

Back to the OP, Jack is a very appropriate name for the Red Mage.  "Jack of all trades, master of none"

Whenever I play RPGs, I just go with the default name the computer gives me. I am very unoriginal.
