Well today we hav been told that in the chat we cant speak other languages diff of the chat room languaje, or actions will be taken about it, (i suppose thats action is ban or something like that)

Well i know for being everyday at the chat that lots of people speak portuguese , polish spanish, and usually talk in that lenguajes in the chat, specially casual gamers. so im proposing using the suomi room to speak in any languaje as we did before "this new rules"

we will be able to do that cuz, despite we hav been told that "This rule is enforced in all respectable moderated chats" . are not moderated :P
chan!!!

So well u know. hope u can read this post and integrate the comunity as we did before ;)

kisses guys

It's really simple. The the main chat room, "Public Channel" is for English discussion only. It's a very common practical decision in chatting systems like this one. Meebo is different because there's no moderation but this chat has nothing to do with Meebo.

When you speak some non-English language, chances are the 90% of other chat users have no idea what you are talking about. For them your writing is gibberish, therefore it's SPAM.

If you want to speak your native language, you have 2 options:

1. Use private messages
2. Change the channel to something other than "Public"

Later we will have different chat rooms and I will include a "Non-English Discussion".

I informed you of these rules in chat. You complained about them. I informed you of the rules again. You complained some more. I told you the rules the last time and I'm hoping you will respect those rules. I have no interest in starting to issue warnings and bans because of chat discussion, but don't think for a second that I won't do it if these infractions continue.

The same rules that apply to this forum, apply to chat also. I suggest that everyone reads forum rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=rules).

We had a nice place to meet, share our views about the game, play and have fun. I've been in this chat for more than a month and everything was going right. Of course trolls were trying to spam but they were not hard to handle, even without moderator. People were free to use the language of their choice. Nobody ever complained about it. Some were even interested in learning things about these foreign languages and cultures.

Today this place was worse than ever, with a lot of fights and the loss of our freedom. Were these new rules really necessary?

That is a good question. I only assumed people would want English-only main chat room because that's what they usually want. I personally don't mind at all if people speak in different languages. I speak 5 different languages myself and if would be cool to practice my Chinese or German. :)

I'll start a poll and we'll see what the general public says, ok?
