Anyone got a good price indication for CCG cards https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=3556.msg31770#msg31770

Ok so I have two sets of cards which I need to look into pricing up for insurance purposes.

I understand their are many different sites but I haven't had any experience with them.

I have early sets of MTG of that helps.

Thanks

http://magic.tcgplayer.com/all_magic_sets.asp  - not sure how close their prices are, but they are displayed for free...
http://www.beckett.com/beckettmagic/default.osi  - beckett is most always spot on, but you gotta buy a magazine

just a couple, I haven't played since before Scrye and Inquest were dissolved, so it's hard to say exactly what everyone uses now

...ninja'd while typing, lol...

honestly, I've never been quite sure about starcity, and I much dislike ebay, but I encourage you to use all avenues available, at least to average out some prices

Thanks very much guys. I only seem to be able to find it in single card fomat and as I have every card in both sets I was wondering if you know how to find the set price on either of these sites.

Thanks

Starcity's selling price, not that you'd get that, but at least it's a start.

Ok so I went there and they didn;t have either of my sets in the list. They are proably too old and most people wouldn't have the complete sets I suppose.

Thanks anyway I will have to do it card by card I think.

What sets do you have? Some are better than others, you know...

I have an Alpha Set which is still boxed unopened and a Beta Set as well in same condition.

I understand they may be worth a small fee to someone but I need to have a value put to them so I can insure them properly.

Thankyou for your help.

Magic the Gathering? Alpha and Beta? Boxes? You mean complete sets? or Boxes? I guarantee you both are worth A LOT if full or unopened, respectively.

Here is a comparison: Black Lotus (Alpha ed. and Beta ed.) sells for about $4000. Moxen sell for around $100 - $200 each. Ancestral Recall sells for upwards of $1000+ depending on edition.

Unopened boxes, aka booster packs unopened in a box, are worth a LOT. Complete sets are worth the sum of their singles values, plus a little to a lot, depending on the buyer.

I have two complete Alpha Playing sets, one has been filed and neither played with the other I used to play with in the 90's I also have 1 complete Beta Playing set which is also filed and not been played with and an Umlimited set which unfortunately saw a little bit of play (I have checked all of them against the database of cards and yes I have all of them).

On top of this I have a myriad of other random cards from all 3 sets which I got when buying boosters.

I have 23 Booster packs for Alpha and 17 for Beta which have been unopened and stored since late '98. Also I have 6 Unlimited Booster Packs as well.

This is the extent of my old school collection at the moment and if as you say they are worth a fair amount I should get them looked at. (although I have a collection of comic books which are worth just as much)

Thankyou.

Honestly, you probably don't even need to take them anywhere...just email/call a reputable store, or go to your local gaming shop, and ask what they're worth in their condition...they should be able to give you a guess-timate without even seeing the cards
