Welcome to Duels!Duels is the center for all unofficial 1v1 PvP activity in Elements. The idea is simple: You either put up a profile and have people challenge you in your own thread, or you post in other people's profiles to challenge them. Anything goes. This is all about the casual side of Elements: the random fun you have on the side when not engaged in high level competition or simply want to have some fun.
1. Your Duel ProfileYour Duel Profile is a thread you keep in Off-Topic Discussions that you manage/maintain.
This is the place where you send out your challenges, and where other members challenge you.
Having a Profile allows ANY forum member to challenge you, or ANY forum member to receive your challenges, as well as being a good way to mark your history in Duels.
If you don't want to put up a profile though, you can simply accept/send challenges in existing profiles. This is merely a good way to be fully involved.
You may manage your profile however you want as long as you clearly mark it as YOUR Profile...
But here's how I recommend making it.
First is the header. This is what others will see even before they look at your thread. It's good to put some basic information here.
[Duel Profile] EvaRia (R) W-0 L-0 Streak-0[Duel Profile] easily identifies this as a Duel Profile. Simple and easy.
Having my Forum Name here marks it as MY profile. You may also want to include your in game name if it's significantly different.
(R) stands for Receiving Challenges. This marks your status.
(R) if you are willing to play any kind of game with anybody.
(C) for Challenge Posted, means you have a challenge up and are waiting for someone to accept it.
(O) for Occupied means you are too busy to Duel right now.
Having your status posted means that other members know what kind of duel that you are looking for, and if you are too busy.
Finally, having your win/loss ratio and winstreak in your header lets other know how well you're doing.
Now for what goes into the profile itself.
The first thing is basic information.
Including things like your Forum Name/IGN, Time Zone, Score, Unupped/Upped preference, favourite Ruleset, Status, etc. that will make organizing a duel with you easier.
If you have a challenge up you will want to post all the rules to the challenge.
Some other things you may want to include are:
Match HistoryIt's always cool to keep a record of past duels. You may also wish to include links to Results. Probably best kept in a spoiler.
Line-up.If you have more than one challenge accepted, it may help to keep a lineup of outstanding Duels.
With that, your Duel Profile is ready!

2. Challenges!Challenging someone is very easy. If you have a profile, you post your Challenge in the OP and name your terms and conditions. Then, someone will come and accept it and you take it to PMs/Chat.
Alternately, you can find someone's profile who is currently receiving challenges and challenge them specifically. Then, in the same way, you will take it to PM/Chat and actually Duel!
3. RulesetsNow, the beauty of Duels is that you can play ANY kind of match imaginable. Unlike PvP Events where you must follow certain rules and restrictions, here in Duels you make your own rules.
Here is the Standard Ruleset:
Best out X Matches
You may change your deck in between duels.
Deck restrictions may apply.
This is the standard way of dueling in Elements. But it's not the only way.
It's encouraged to get your creativity flowing and think up, and SHARE your own Special Rulesets.
A Special Ruleset qualifies as follows:
1) The win condition for a single duel is altered (Examples are Suicide, Deck-outs only, etc.)
2) The win condition for the Entire match is altered (Anything not best out of X).
3) There are factors that specifically restrict your NEXT deck. (General restrictions will affect all decks in the duel. If it only affects one deck or it changes, than it is a Special Ruleset).
If you have an idea for a Ruleset, post it HERE:

4. Battle ResultsWhile not necessary, if you had a particularly good duel and want to keep record with it, you may wish to record it for the sake of posterity.
If you wish to do so, post your decks and match summaries HERE:

That's all there is to it, Have Fun!
