Standard Rainbow 'trick' vs. Octane https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=4355.msg43015#msg43015
« on: March 23, 2010, 11:13:51 pm »
I just accidentally did this and it worked startlingly well:

Early game, Quint the FFQ instead of an Oty, and lay out a Bone Wall.  Every turn, create a Firefly and let the enemy Snipe it to death.  The dying Firefly will make the Bone Wall grow and keep the EE's at bay, freeing up your SoGs to help deal with the Unstable Gasses.

It helps a lot to draw a Fire Storm and kill a few EEs that have been blown down to size by exploding Gasses. :)
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

The butterfly effect is incredibly useful against this opponent.

Except for the fact that most FG Rainbows don't have Butterfly Effect. I just fought Octane and had a Pulvy out; I don't have enough room in my deck for a PA. He blew my Pulvy to bits, that meanie, and then blew my HP to bits. I guess Bonewall might also help to lure Explosions away from your precious Pulverizer.

I don't think that you can lure his explosions any more. The AI got improved, but the trick posted at the opening post works well.

I tried a simple duo deck against Octane ( but it only works against Octane)

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5l9 5l9 5l9 5lg 5lg 5lg 5lg 5lg 5lg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5ro 5ro 5ro 5ro 5ro 5ro 6rn 6rn 6rn 6rn 6rn 6rn 8pq

-The Reflective Shield blocks the gas
-rewind the Eagles´s Eye with Eternity,
-rewind your Photon early enough, so you have still enough cards to rewind opponents´ Eyes
- replace the lost Eternitys with another one ( it´s important to rewind your Photon early enough)
- healing because you cant deflag the Eye in the slot
- Opponent has 4 Deflags.
- The Deflags deflag your Eternity, you could use Nova + upgraded Artifact to prevent him from doing that.
- You could use Hourglasses with high targeting priority,
- EM should be almost sure
-needs much time (~700 sec )

You win by decking him out (boring to play)

1.29:
May be less effective with the new SoG. Maybe use Sanctuary.
