When I went silver grinding several minutes ago, I found a mono-aether deck with SoW. The problem with this deck is that it is difficult to counter. Reflective shields do not do much to this deck, since the player playing the mono-aether can hold back SoW and pierce through said shield. By their nature, immortal creatures are difficult to control. This is especially true when immortals with SoW bypass shields that could kill them. Unlike other decks based on spell damage such as UG decks and firestalls, there are few ways to avoid the wave of spell damage.

I think this does not reflect any overpoweredness of SoW itself, but the lack of effective counters to both spell damage and hard hits of physical damage. I propose that a shield such as Divine Shield | Divine Protection or Dodging | Wild Dodging be added to the game. (These are my card ideas, since I noticed this deficiency before anyone else I know did.) Thank you for reading.

1. If it ain't broke, don't wreck it.
2. Simple fixes for simple problems.
3. Remember to fill in the holes.

I like how those two card ideas are yours :P

If SoW has the ability to be used on creatures without immaterial, it's just a much more powerful version of chaos power.

SoW is about granting wisdom (hence the name) to an ancient (immortal) being.

If anything were to be done to SoW it should just be changing the stat increase to +3 | +0.

i agree with this idea, a creature with spell attack and immortal is to powerfull and the only defense that i kann immagine is a reflective shield

Maybe if its reflected it should hit the creature instead of the other elemental but that might be to complicated
If I have something to say I'll keep it to my self then let it out at the worst possible moment and then I will walk away laughing

I agree, Shard of Wisdom is overpowered (as I said in another topic) and in my opinion.

It's hard to counter it, spell-reflective shields are not only highly situational, but, they can be countered by the most boring way: by simply not playing the Shard. Even if the shield shows up after the first Shard was used, by playing un-Sharded creatures the damage balance can be easily reversed. (Eg. 1 unupgraded Phase Dragon + Shard of Wisdom = 14 damage; 2 Dragons -> 16 damage, minus 4 in case of Jade Shield = 12 damage. 3 Dragons ->24-6=18 damage.)

As I mentioned elsewhere, it boosts mono-Ether deck, which is already powerful withouth the Shard itself. (And, let be frank: a mono-Ether deck is not the peakpoint of deck-building inspiration...)
Even worse, if the Shard is paired with a Quintessenced creature. I met a deck with a Quint'ed and Shard'ed Forest Spirit in it...

Basicly, the "dream creature" is the one which ignores shileds and immortal at the same time, since in pratice, it can't be hurt. A Shard'ed creature is almost the same, and the card even gives ADDITIONAL damage. I think it's silly.

So, either the damage increase should be removed, or the immortality of the creature, as others suggested (if the name is misleading, re-name the Shard itself like, "Shard of Magick" or something like that).
Alternatively, a new idea: magick damage actually is a skill and costs some quanta to use it. Like,  :aether :aether :aether or so.

Now dont take me saying this to mean that I think that reflective shields should be included in most decks on the off chance that the opponent uses psions or SOW. However, you can withhold casting of said shields until enemy heavily commits to using the shards. Until then you are no worse off than you were against aether in the past and most players will not skimp on the chance to +4 each of their creatures, especially if the deck is built to use it. I am also not saying the reflective shields are the perfect counter, only that they are a better counter than the arguments I have seen posted.(at the least they make 6 cards in a 30 card deck waste space for the wary player, at most its an autowin)

I think in combination with Shard Golems, it´s OP (had seen such a deck), and I could imagine it´s OP in aether.

My personal nerf suggestions, if we need one :
- Shard Golem should need more SoWs for Immortality
- The freeze effect of water shields, fire effect, skeleton effect, and the delay effect still happen. Maybe gravity.

i have come to believe a card shouldnt be nerfed unless it has consistantly been a game changer. or the sole game decider (frequently)
