[Official] Scarab | Elite Scarab https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=13578.msg170938#msg170938

Obviously, this card in and of itself is not overpowered.  However, this card defies common logic, by abusing the swarm ability.  Each individual in a swarm of scarabs does not grow grow healthier with each successive unit, the group simply grows larger in numbers.  The individual scarabs should have some small amount of health INDEPENDENT of the number of scarabs present, with the ability to devour DEPENDENT on the number of scarabs present.

It honestly makes no sense that it is near impossible to kill off one scarab in a pack simply because it is in a pack.  Stomp on a swarm of ants on the ground, and you will kill some.  The majority will be unharmed, but most certainly you will kill the ones you step on.  The same principal should apply here.

I propose granting scarabs a fixed amount of health, probably in the 3-4 area, while still giving them the ability to devour based on the total number of scarabs present.

Are you trying to bring logic into this? o.0

This card is unique and powerful and has no need to be nerfed.

I like your idea, and it certainly makes more sense to me... but I think this would make things way too complicated.  Mostly because the ability 'devour' is already defined as being dependent on the amount of HP the creature has, so we'd have to change the ability completely, and define it all within the card text.

Unless you can propose a viable solution, I think Scarab is better off staying as it is...

Edit: After some thought, I think I'm agreeing with the other two responses, so far.  Although I still like your reasoning, I don't think there's anything innately wrong with Scarab, and I think it's just fine the way it is now.

Agreed. Powerful but not too powerful. No nerf needed.

I like the increasing health.  It goes with the old idea that dung beetles helped each other, and the increasing health is a nice nod to that.

What I would like to see, though, is their devourer not raise their stats, or, at least, not raise their health.

Giving them the ability to get more health from methods other than adding more scarabs is fairly confusing.  It also makes them more like otyughs, while their ability to get bigger as more come should be the way they are able to eat bigger things.  One scarab shouldn't be able to eat a dragon.  They aren't growing out of control as they eat.  Several of them should be able to swarm and eat a dragon, though.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Maybe increase the cost. This is weaken fractal scarabs and give usefulness to Pharoahs.

Or maybe just decrease the cost of Pharaohs.

This card is only good if you have alot of it or a pharoh plus even with a pharoh and with the cards in your deck. you still have the chances of drawing it and the drawing multiples of it.

Also about pharoh and his ability that is another topic since its a differnt card but even with it you need the quanta to summon them each turn and thenyou can only summon one each turn and by the time you get enuff to be effective your opent could have already damaged you or killedc you unless pharoh was in your starting hand.

This card is horrible, since Pharaoh is probably one of the worst cards in the game.

Looks like no nerf is in order.  Locking.  *Hopes the concept of locking a nerf/buff thread gone wrong will catch on*
