Otyugh shuts down too many decks. The devour ability from one Otyugh can single handedly win you the game. Getting this card out early will shut down any creature based deck which is absurdly powerful. I think it's too easy to snowball out of control with this card and he needs a nerf. I would suggest something like reducing the defence from both upped and unupped by 1 so he isn't such an early start, or maybe leave the defence the same, and increase quanta cost by 1 and the devour cost by 1.

Actually, any form of CC can fairly negate Oty (including another Oty :D ) pretty easily, unless you make it immaterial or constantly heal it up

Yeah, but at least for the upgraded version the only CC that reliably deals with it is Thunderbolt. Rain of Fire, Shockwave etc don't completely deal with it, and it's too easy to recover from that with things like Shard of Patience, Heavy Armour etc.

First things first - READ the "READ THIS FIRST". Thread should be a poll.

No. Not "any" creature based deck. That's too far fetched.

Otyugh un-upped with 3 HP is borderline useless. In fact, almost no one uses Otyugh un-upped. Giving it one less HP is borderline ridiculous.
Upped creatures gain more HP. If we go and analyze every single creature's HP when upped/un-upped and compare it to Otyugh, we can then see what percentage of these creatures could he be able to eat in a non-buffed state. I think this has already been done because a thread like this has already been made, very likely. That aside, giving it less HP when upped would get it closer to un-upped - except you're in an upped environment, which means most creatures have gotten an HP boost.

The only CC that "Kills" it is Thunderbolt. But dealing with it? Rain of Fire, Shockwave and etcetera will give it from 1 to 2 HP - which makes Oty useless. Now, it is true that if you pair it with Shard of Patience or Heavy Armor it will gain HP, but that does not make Oty the problem, but rather the combo being a problematic instance. In the same scenario, using SoPa yourself or Heavy Armor yourself will let you get out of Oty's eating threshold.

There are other super-CC cards out there too, you know: Arctic squid, Scarabs, eagle's eye-they all do the same thing.
Plus, if oty takes even a little damage, its value is damaged. If poisoned, its basicly useless.

Maybe I'm just focusing on the situations where he is overpowered. In the right situation he can easily win you the game by himself.

i personally don't think otys are a problem. and thats coming from someone who uses a FFQ as his main deck.
Squids on the other hand... however they are rare.

A lot of cards can win the game by themselves in the right situation. That's why people use them.
I personally find Maxwell's much more annoying. Neither are truly OP though.

(with relevance to situational-OP) I play with a deck that involves spam-blessing creatures, and trust me, if the opponetn is :time and they have Eternity, they pretty much have the game.

A 60 pillar deck can win games all by itself against Voodoo Bravery.
1 case != general case.

A nerf can be "Devour deals Time Bubble." Can eat every 2 turns.
Attack can start at 1 or 2 instead to keep cost.
