I don't know if it has been mentioned, but nerfing Immolation/Cremation so that there is a chance of it exploding along with giving you quanta so you take like 10 damage. Maybe 25% or something.
Wait, what? This needs a nerf again? Also, making randomly explode doesn't seem like fire's thing. Fire is all about sure fire glass cannons, so you could make it deal DEFINITE damage, but occasionally exploding feels like :entropy.

It's hardly a nerf. It's more of an amusing adjustment. And this is coming from someone whose favorite element is fire. And making it hurt everytime seems like a much harder nerf than just occasionally exploding. maybe the chances of exploding could go up with every consecutive one you used.

Alter the size of the explosion.
20% chance of X damage => 100% chance of X/5 damage.
I agree that definate damage would be better for immolation than occasional damage. (The sacrifice and the quanta are not random, they are definiate)

Why would you nerf the  :fire gain from immolation, instead of making it cost 1 :fire to cast?

That way you can't simply use it on turn 1 without first having an upped pillar or a nova in your hand also

or am I missing something?

Slightly off-topic here, reading this gave me ideas on how to use immolation, though I don't think I will.

Completely on-topic, Immolation with lava golem sounds powerful, but it's like my fire spirits I abuse so much. They get to ridiculous levels of power AND...will be killed by grav pull, drain life, fire bolt, ice bolt, any infection, RoF, scarabs, otyugh, lightning, shockwave, My fire shield being stolen, in addition to being royally destroyed in power by freeze, ice shield, procrastination, petrification, arctic squid, lobotomizer/mind flayer, etc.

Lava golem is the same way, if you act on it early enough. And it is vulnerable to the same things Fire Spirit is. I may be persuaded if you can tell me another reason Immo is overpowered, but if it's just because they can get out lava golem early, I say no nerf.

Difference is that Fire Spirit's Ablaze doesn't give HP boost like Lava Golem's Growth...

Immolation doe not need a nerf. I would suggest trying to nerf the lava golem instead.

There are tons of strategies that counter rushes, packing CC is one of them.

Because it is to enable pillarless first turn plays.

That is EXACTLY the reason it was nerfed. You could get 4 phoenixes by turn 2 and that was highly OP

Immo should generate negative four fire quanta because it's so good for killing antimattered creatures on your side. It wouldn't activate if you didn't have negative four fire quanta. Also, it shouldn't generate one quanta of every other element.
