Are these cards OP?

Once upon a time they were much weaker. They were buffed, but I don't remember how they were before.

Unupped

They are as dangerous as GoTP, but twice the HP. I worry that 8HP is too sturdy.

Their ability can be effective CC, but it is really cheap and the Nymph is very tough to kill.
Compare it to other reusable CC:

Almost any CC will kill these creatures, and the Owl's Eye is targettable by PC. Few single cards can deal with the Grey Nymph. True, these cards are cheaper, but the Grey Nymph also has 7ATK.

On the other hand, the CC effect is slow.

If you want this card for its Alfatoxin effect, the cost is 2 :death more, +1 :death per use, + 1 turn setup. The perks are you get reusable Afla, as well as a sturdy attacker.

For a 7|8, it has a powerful ability. Is its ATK|HP too much?
On the other hand, it costs 8 (or Nymph Tears (7 :water) + Death Pillar), and it is, of course, a Nymph.

I welcome discussion of this card—though I've not yet voted in my own poll.

Despite its high stats imo I'd still consider this to be one of the weaker nymphs, ahead of  :darkness but not a lot else. Combining its expensive cost with an ability which works best when played early on in the game means that it generally falls short to simply using aflatoxin instead. Afla also tends not to benefit from repeated use in most cases, the only one I can think of is Omega's grey dolls but, whilst certainly effective, that is by no means an overpowered deck. Its high cost also means it is only realistically feasible to run it in a mono death which tends to lead to antisynergy, most death decks are either rushing out poison with mummy/recluse faster than it's feasible to play this card, or at least where the extra damage that comes from a dragon is worth the extra quanta, or stalling with either bonewall, which malignant cells will of course simply eat through, or SoSac, where you usually want their creatures alive.

Just as a side note I personally have 3 grey nymphs and struggle to find use for them without designing a deck specifically focused on the nymph's ability. The same is often true for a few of the other nymphs too but I feel this one is slightly worse.

I wouldn't really call it comparable to any of those cards listed except parasite. The others are all much more effective methods of creature control. Oty and maxwells are insta kills, and owls eye has not only itself but an element full of effect CC to back it up.
All of that aside, is there any deck with this that is actually really good? The possibility of my grey dolls aside, I don't recall even one using the nymphs.

I made a duo with :life, using green nymphs, skull shield, and bonds.
It did surprisingly well, although I never posted it because it was more of a fun deck.
And I planned to make an adrenadeck compilation at the time.

An important point you forgot to mention, is that with it's repeatableness, this nymph can achieve a field lockdown even late in the game.
Even still, I'm not really convinced that this is OP.
by the time you can kill a single creature with this, you will have died without a strong defense, or you need a very high quanta production.

The Grey Nymphs are easily fueled because their abilities are so cheap, though it takes a little while before you get them out.

The perk of making it a duo with Water is Dry Spell + Malignant Cells, which fuels Nymph Queen even when you have few pillars left.

I trio'd Darkness to give you HP recovery of vampire Grey Nymphs (Nymph Queens are so-so as Vampires). It also gives you PC and soft CC.

Making this deck has somewhat verified your points though. The Nymphs are powerful, but rather impractical in most decks.
The deck itself is far from OP.

Some of the nymphs need nerfing, but this isn't one of them.  It's probably the weakest one.  I actually find myself using it more because of the high hp stats (only death creature that doesn't die to 1 lightning) than because it can actually afla stuff.  The only successful deck I've ever made with grey nymph was a strange death/water/darkness trio involving nymph's tears, voodoo dolls, and grey and black nymphs to afla/vamp the dolls.

The original version was 0/4 and 0/7 upped, and I think it cost 2 death to activate back then.  It was -never- used.  I won't elaborate in the death nymph thread, but I'd argue that the earth, light, water, air, and time nymphs should have their base stats lowered.  I'd also argue that the darkness nymph should be made stronger, and possibly give the aether one more hp as well.  (it did get +1 hp on the upped version only in the nymph buff, so zanz agreed to a certain point with me)

And how would this do against most of the standard unupped decks?  I can't see it doing very well in most cases.

Off topic: If there's one thing my new deck taught me, it's that Dark Nymph needs a buff.

I've voted against myself in the poll now ::) Thanks for the discussion and I invite you to continue. I actually like my Dark-Death-Water trio :-)

By the time you get it on the field, chances are someone's going to be dead in 4 turns, so it's effectively semi-vanilla.

For a decent deck with these Nymphs that boast these stats I'd go with a mono Death, something like this:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
52g 52g 52g 52g 52g 52g 52g 52l 52l 52l 52q 52q 52q 52t 52t 52t 52t 52t 52t 534 534 534 534 542 542 542 542 542 542 542 8pk

Though in many cases you'd simply want Dragons + Bone Walls instead of Skull + Nymphs, but it gives it a nice edge against other rushes.

Still, I hardly see how it would be overpowered.
It goes well with Skull Buckler which is relatively underused, and has poor synergy with Bone Wall which is relatively overused, so all the better at that.

:entropy :death cats + grey nymphs deck is very solid (it's only problem is that you need 6 upped for it, good luck getting those).

Long story short, it's good card. Just there are too few of those.
