It took some time until I had the situation that brings me to starting this topic. The card itself is fine, but what seems wrong to me is:

Devouring a venomous creature infects the devouring creature. (Yes it is a dumb idea to lick that Hypno Toad  ;D)

So why is it possible for a creature to attract all attacks with GP|GF and not get poisoned from venomous creatures?


Most venom creatures have the "weakness" of a pretty low attack, so imho this would make them a little more effective vs. GP|GF and it just sounds right and logical to me. Curious what you think. Since this is my first poll around, feel free to give me feedback on options i forgot. Thanks.  ;)

Mechanics of the game dictates that poisonous creature:
1. attacks normally, THEN
2. If the attack goes through, apply skill

In this case, the skill is "venom" (Forest Scorpion and Puffer Fish), Deadly Venom (Deathstalker), or Neurotoxin (Dune Scorpion).
Criteria of attack going through:
1. Dealing damage. Negative damage (healing, via AM) is counted as damage.
2. Not fully blocked by shield. (Blessed Deathstalker deal damage through Perma but not Diamond, for example)
3. Not fully blocked by creatures. (via GP, as mentioned)

EDIT: as for dealing poison if devoured, it's not Venom. It's passive skill Poisonous. So a different skill.

Ah ok, I missed that info then. Thanks! I still think it would make sense, but at least now I know why it is like it is.

It really depends which creature this is played on.

If you are playing it on your own creatures for protection - then this means they die faster (nerf)
If you are playing it on an enemy creature to kill it - then they too die faster (buff)

Hence its just a change. But it sounds perfectly logical and fair that poison creatures do poison damage (although neurotoxin should just be normal poison on creature).

Anything that makes Purify less situational without harming the game is probably a good thing. As it stands scorpion/puffer fish decks usually either beat a deck relying on gravity pull for defense (ala neurotoxin), or are weak enough to make a minor buff such as this valid (ala forest scorpion).

What's more, it'd mean we'd stop seeing threads asking for this very change every two months =P
