and everyone added another onto that. this is the nerf section titled as "nerf firewall". if you want a buff then feel free to make one in the buff section. if you think hard you may find you can think of a straight nerf without inadvertently giving it a buff.
His theory was that is was balanced except against RayofLight.
His solution was making RayofLight not attack Firewall.
His thematic excuse was fear
My post about Fear was a counterargument against the thematic excuse.

sorry i must have misread the other comments. i still stand by my view that defending 1 damage per creature is definitely a buff and that just because one deck suffers from a single card that you won't always come across doesn't mean it should be nerfed. after all RoL/hope is not 100% effective and never will be, or should be for that matter.

not OP. It is quite expensive and does ONLY 1 dmg.

- use momentum
- steal
- destroy perm.
- use it against an opponent (bone shield + aflatoxin on self + find out ;) )

This card kills RoL Hope? Have you ever considered that this is one of the only counters against it?
Rol Hope isnt the only deck you can play
and there is not perfect deck thats kind of a base in this game

additionally you can't have any one deck that dominates the game and RoL/hope is no exception. it has to be countered by something or other and fire buckler just happens to be it. the fact that it smashes it does not make it OP. besides i see little reason for concern about encountering fire shield/buckler since RoL/hope deck is designed for FGs and only Hermes has fire buckler, therefore that argument against this shield is redundant.

Hermes and Octane, though he's autoquit anyway

Fire Buckler absolutely wrecks my Deja Vu/Hope deck, too.  And it's pretty potent against FFQ/Hope.

really that's still just 1 deck type we're talking about here. it just seems that it's merely bad luck that all light emitting/easily spammable and cheap vanilla creatures are so vulnerable.

Another, possible thing, would be to make it so that it doesn't 100% of the time always effect a creature. We've seen this before and you know who I'm talking about, Thorn Carapace. >:[

Instead you could give it a 70% chance to deal 1 damage to the creature, as well as block one damage. This way it would be neither OP or UP maybe.

Just, uh, yeah, putting my thoughts out there.

Experience will reveal that the current simple (newb friendly) version is also balanced.
