A lot of my friends have been talking about Dubstep, but I still don't understand it.
Truth is I don't like most of what they have been giving me, but I just don't get it
Can you define Dubstep for me. What characterizes dubstep?
Yes I did spend a good portion of my time trying to get a good explanation, means I am not a troll.

@Noobiecakes: Daft Punk is house, not dubstep, fool! :P

@Seraph: Dubstep is a genre of music which is very minimalistic and puts a lot of focus on the bassline. The "wobble"-sound is very common here, which is produced by some filters which are applied to the baseline. Basically, that's about it ;)

@Timer: You should listen to some stuff by "Spore" (after the game Spore got into the stores he changed his name to "Feed Me"), by "Kidnap & Ransom", "Alpha Twins", "Biometrix", some remixes by Dee Jay Mee (example (
)) and "Kid Dub". This is all I can come up right now, but if you like it and want more, feel free to ask me :P

I like all kinds of music. Namely anything from Rock to Grind Core, from Dance to Terror Core, from Dubstep to Darkstep, and Rap and Hip Hop as well. Basically, anything which is not mainstream pop and folk lore (excluding classic music which I do enjoy, but rarely find time to listen to).
