Avatar would definitely lose its charm if it were an adult show..

Avatar would definitely lose its charm if it were an adult show..
Can't say that Slice of life and drama mixture does not have charm - most The Last Airbender episodes were a mix of Supernatural, Adventure, Slice of Life, drama and action. However in The Legend of Korra there is too little Slice of Life/Adventure genre and too much action.

If "The Legend of ..." becomes an adult(moves towards explicit content genres) show, it will have to deal with more adult content and contexts. Some plausible options to do a 3 book series for the character of adult avatar(in the context of his universe) are a world war, suppression, theocracy, apocalypse... As the world of the Avatar is developing(so far cars, electricity, urbanization, industrialization, weaponry, planes), more genres can be taken into consideration.
Personally, I would like to see "The Legend of ..." in horror, extreme survival or psychological horror genres.

That's what I do every time I find a new show to watch. Every waking hour not at work is watching something.

Life's are over rated anyways.

MAJOR SPOILERS

Spoiler for Hidden:
Book 2 is gonna have a MUCH greater sense of adventure. New worlds to explore, old legends realized and renewed... But let's take a look back on what A:TLA had to offer.

Aang did a lot of stuff in his time. He became locked in the Spirit World, defended the Northern Water Tribe, found The Great Library, worked to uncover conspiracies underlying Ba Sing Se's government, infiltrated and lived in the Fire Nation, and defeated the Fire Nation Emperor, all under the age of 16.

It's not just that he's had a lot of adventures. He'd taken on a VARIETY of trials and tribulations that earn great reputation in that world.

Korra's stories have not had that variety. From start to finish, the idea is she has to live on the legacy of the Avatar and retain order in a world being torn asunder by the 'Equalist' agenda, facing an opponent that can take away bending. From start to finish, the setting has centered around Republic City, and advanced the idea of technological uprisings lending power to non-benders and creating strife. From start to finish, Korra has nearly mastered the 'perfect Avatar' semblance, lacking only her Airbending training. This was a smart move at first. Making her a carbon copy of Aang is improper. However, it limited what could be done with her.

Season 1 has ended with a resounding cry of admiration from fans everywhere. The movie-like quality throughout the animation is astonishing, but the general plot has been a girl in a big city, fighting a rebel uprising. No journeys to the spirit world, no defending other cities, the only real conspiracy was Tarrlok, and we didn't even get to look at the new Earth Kingdom or Fire Nation after the 70-80 year time skip.

Having a steampunk era is lovely, and I admire the originality behind it, continuing the surge of scientific growth since the preceding series. However, until Korra leaves Republic City, she will not have anything close to the adventures or trials that Aang had to go through.

That's my thought anyway.
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.
