Title: The Feels
Post by: Drake_XIV on October 24, 2012, 09:37:56 am
We've all had that one scene that, try as we might, always brought forth waterfalls.  So, post those sad moments here as you let loose your very manly tears.  No one is watching.

Note, there might be spoilers here...

Looking back, Timer would agree with me that this is indeed a tear-jerking scene.

Well, it doesn't exactly make me to shed my tears, but I always watch in awe the following last scene:

Again, not quite tears, but Elfen Lied caused me many a feel.
Couldn't think of any relevant scene, so here, enjoy the theme

For me and just me, the saddest anime character death ever; the death of Nicolas D. Wolfwood (Trigun):

Do not that this isn't restricted to anime...

Elfen Lied
Saikano
Clannad

And some more classics. Not that i've watched them, though.

What's for me? Ef's ending, specifically the Tale of Melodies.

Very well, here is one of the most heroic deaths in animations {Transformers / Beast Wars - Death of DinoBot}:

Dramatic trance-y music often gives me a sort of down feeling.  Does that count?

Not sure if these two count or if this thread is even alive anymore.

Woolf's death in Gundam Age
Kamina's death in Gurren Lagann

Again, not quite tears, but Elfen Lied caused me many a feel
Elfen Lied also had a manga that had a longer story then the anime with a different ending. If you wanna look into it.

Erementar Gerad's manga ending
Elfen Lied's manga ending
Clannad After Story's reconciliation scene

And on the bright side Toradora's ending left me dawww'ing infinitely.

This BTOOOM manga better end happily

'the last man on earth', gives me a whole mess of feels, almost constantly mainly ranging from embarrassments, to discomfort to even watch it.

Much like truly terrifying moments, I love searching for truly sad and emotional moments. A few that come to mind:

Ninth to Eleventh Doctor Who have some really devastating scenes, as do every single one of the special episodes. Nothing really compares.
Elfen Lied was terribly, terribly sad. But sadness doesn't have to be a negative emotion.
Likewise with Full Metal Alchemist, which balanced it out skillfully with other moments that increase the contrast of the tragedies.
A Time Traveler's Wife was pretty damn heartbreaking. Hiddleston is pretty unique in that the sadness he's portraying truly seems to be his. He has a moment like this in War Horse as well.
