HUGE nerd about superhero Movies. Might be the only one posting here but no one else i know irl like them as much as i do.

So Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart just won World Records for longest careers as Marvel Superheroes. Totaling 16 years and 228 days. I personally loved most of the X-Men movies so i am happy to hear this. I think Robert Downey Jr. as IronMan or Sir Ian Mckellen as Magneto would be next in terms as longest running career. RDJ could easily beat it if he stays for 2 more movies but it is highly implausible.

I watched most superhero movies, even the one titled Superhero Movie. :silly: DC had some good movies too, but I stopped watching them after Man of Steel. Here are a few that I can rewatch almost any time:

  • Spiderman (Sam Raimi)
  • V for Vendetta
  • X-Men: First Class
  • The Incredibles
  • Blade II
  • Batman (C.Nolan)
Does Scott Pilgrim vs The World count as a superhero movie?
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...

I really liked Tobey Maguire as Spiderman. The other ones always seemed too cocky for me.

Can't say I really liked other superhero movies as much.

What did everyone think of Endgame? Personally, i was slightly disappointed; but my hopes were set pretty high from Infinity War. I have seen it about 6 times and while multiple viewings did help, i was still pretty disappointed.

This is a cinematic milestone that took 21 movies to lead up to this. This hasnt been done before in the history on cinematography. Many people havent seen it yet so to be courteous to them, if you are going to talk about the movie in detail, please put it in a spoiler tag.

Spoiler for Hidden:
The first 20 min i enjoyed. The beheading of Thanos, Captain Marvel being introduced to the Avengers, the aftermath of the snap was all enjoyable. However, after that, it turned into a cliche time travel movie. "We are going back in time, dont talk to yourselves, dont mess anything up, dont..." its been done a million times and I was very disappointed at this part. Its probably my 2nd least favorite part of the whole movie. The first being Thor. What.The.Actual.Fuck. Fat Thor. Seriously? It was kinda funny at first but it really ruined his atmosphere in the final battle, or really any scene that included him. It is speculated that they did this to nerf Thor. However, his fighting and powers were not affected by his weight, so that simply cannot be true. It was a stupid joke that fell flat and was detrimental to the movie. The final battle however was superb. Imo, it really redeemed the movie. I loved Pots in an Iron Suit. POPs figurines are calling her Rescue. The Iron Man arch was wrapped up nicely. Spider-Man Far From Home is supposed to wrap up the Infinity Stone Saga so that should shine some light on even more Post-Snap aftermath, Iron Mans death, etc. Breaking it down in the 3 hours, i would say Hour 1: 4/5, 2nd Hour: 1/5, 3rd Hour: 5/5. Your thoughts?

Spoiler for Hidden:
I liked how the movie gave character development for most of the cast who survived the snap (Nebula, Iron Man, Technically Freya since she died before the snap) The time travel segment was cliche, but I liked the fact that Thor and Tony Stark got to talk to Freya and Howard respectively. I also prefer how they presented the actual process of time travel as multiverse travel, since it makes a much better system of time travel than something that incorporates the butterfly effect or ripple effect. The scene with all of the female superheroes guarding Captain Marvel didn't really make as much sense once I thought about it after the movie ended. Most of the female superheroes already show traits of being just as brave/powerful as the male superheroes were, so it really wasn't needed. If anything, Nebula should've been at the center of the group. Captain Marvel is powerful enough to take care of the army charging at her, so she wouldn't even need cover. Besides, a good chunk of the movie was dedicated to her character, so it makes more sense.

I see it as like a 7/10. Not the best Marvel movie I seen, but it's still pretty good.

Just to derail the conversation. Saw Watchmen a few days ago. The disappointment. I'm glad I've read the comic recently, because
that is awesome, deep, and makes you think about the human condition. I love how Alan Moore voiced those ideas and opinions in 1986,
and how they resonate with my experiences and point of view. Simply perfect. If you really want to understand and feel the story and
mood in its entirety do yourself a favor and read the comics. I warn you, it is not an easy read, not the usual stuff. But it surely pays off every moment.

OK, what is the problem with the movie. Tries to mimic, no, not mimic, but copy-paste the comic book in a very slavish manner.
This amount and style of retro- and introspection works in a book, but not in a movie. And I certainly don't understand why did they
changed some of the order of events. Since it is easy to run into spoilers on the Internet do yourself a favor, and don't try to
get information about the comic book or movie. Just get the book. That's why I won't tell you which characters sucked, but there
were plainly ridiculous choices for certain characters, which surprises me, since American movies main strength is proper casting.
And Zack Snyder must have forgotten that it isn't 300, no need to show that amount of brutality, it doesn't add, it makes those
scenes laughable. And why those Matrix-style fights? Unnecessary.

All-in-all: comic book 10/10, movie: meh.

Kinda funny you mention this. My good friend actually loved the movie and it inspired him to read the comic (isnt it more of a graphic novel?) and he said he loves both. Also, proper casting? Rorschach was casted excellently imo. I loved the movie but then again i love everything Zack Snyder has put out. (yes, even Justice League)

Yes, it is a graphic novel. Rorschach was kinda good, but I guess it was hard to find such an ugly actor like the original character, hehe.
I guess it also matters which of them you see first.
