It's already for toddlers. It always has been. Really, in it's early days it was similar to the MLP phenomenon, except meant to target a different group of people and not quite as huge. It's was just slightly less of a piece of crap than it is now.

I saw the word "Spongebob" and hopped on this thread immediately.

You honestly can not have a valid opinion on Spongebob (in my mind) until you have watched the entire first season.
Although I am extremely disappointed at where Spongebob went after season 3, the first 3 seasons of Spongebob Squarepants are what made Spongebob one of the greatest cartoons of all time. (referring only to the first 3 seasons) Spongebob has witty and clever jokes which make it children and adult friendly and not to mention the music isn't half bad either!

As for all this "it makes you stupid" bullshit: I've seen the first three seasons of Spongebob probably around 3 or 4 times each and I made honor roll, so that has to count for something. I have a friend (or two) who is -almost- as Spongebob crazy as me (not quite) and he's on the honor roll, too. That has to mean something.

Anywho, you can't argue that Spongebob never made you laugh unless you haven't watched any of it.

The humor style in Spongebob goes much deeper than just plain stupidity. You sound ignorant to me. Please go watch a few episodes (from seasons 1, 2, or 3) and come back when you can provide a more logical reason to dislike Spongebob.

On a side note, everything past season 3 has gone to raw stupidity as a form of humor, so I wouldn't even consider that stuff -real- Spongebob.
