About the whole 'number of regenerations' thing, I remember Eleven (now Twelve, with Hart, incidentally) saying that while Gallifrey usually limited the number of regenerations to thirteen or so, it's physically possible for a Time Lord to regenerate five hundred times or more.

yes, but the high council of time lords lifted the barrier they put on limiting regenerations during the time war (mentioned when they said they used it to allow the Master to fight in it). this is how the time war went on for a very very long time through hundreds and hundreds of battles. after all "we have used every forbidden device except one" - obviously they had the technology. this limit being lifted was never put back in place, so there should still be no limit as long as a "riversong" (using all regeneration energy) is not used.

other possibilities: river's energy had 9 or 10 more regenerations to give to the doctor, so he could have those to use. something else could happen to change the rule of regenerations. bad wolf could happen.

other notes: the doctor states a really random 3 digit number in torchwood in the same exact manner an earlier doctor says "12 times" which was a reference to the possibility 12 was a joke as 12 would seem like too many at the time.

All right, I hadn't remembered that. I guess in any case, that means we'll almost always have a Doctor around when we need one.

It'll be fun to see what kind of tricks the Time Lords can pull off through that little crack now. Should make for some interesting storylines.

They're probably available via torrents.  I admit to nothing (except being a doctor who fan) but I know that back in the day that they were available on Limewire, although that software is now defunct.  (uTorrent is probably the best now)  Some of the extremely old episodes (1st-2nd doctors) have been lost, but all of the 4th doctor episodes are still around.  Occasionally I've seen dvds for sale that will contain a season or half a season's episodes or something like that.  (many of the old seasons had a LOT of episodes)
