I liked the Davis/Tennant style much more.

Not to say the current writer doesn't have some great highlights, but the general consensus is that the writing quality has dropped significantly. Then there's Matt Smith. [Insert vague long-winded actor hate.] Tennant a.k.a the tenth doctor was a exponentially better Dr. Who.

IMHO, Davis and Tennant created a Dr. with more character, feeling, and mystery.

davies? also, I have loved every doctor I have seen so far (btw, downloading itunes purchase of 50th aniversary tomorrow) for various reasons.

focusing only on the newer ones to keep this short and common for all whovians, each one brings something new to their doctor's character, even if it is subtle.

Matt Smith brought the goofy back from 10 while introducing the dark side of the doctor and expression of pain even rivaling 10 post-rose, and 9 post-war, while making him more "human" in quality, also as a big whovian, smith brought back portions of personality from nearly every single previous version of the doctor (the real reason he seems poor is because A - he had to follow Tennant, and B - his favorite doctor and most emulated was the 2nd.

Tennant was the geeks' secret love in personality, one the best portrayals of the doctor because HE IS POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST FAN OF DOCTOR WHO IN THE HISTORY OF THE SHOW (just look at his bio and how he treats real life, he was the first Human to embody the Doctor in real life), while being helped by his love for Rose and the following tragedy.

Eccleston was by far the biggest revolutionary of the doctor (after all, 9 was the reincarnation just after the Time War tragedy) by bringing a doctor who shut himself out of any emotional feelings for those he poured all of his life to, humans. Also, he went from a mask to a man who loved one person so much he would destroy everything in his path. If he had not had a poor experience with the executives of Doctor Who, he would have had another season and been just as loved doctor as Tennant (after all, he was chosen to be 9 OVER tennant).

WARNING: CONTAINS 50th ANNIVERSARY SPOILERS!!!

Spoiler for Hidden:
I watched it and was left feeling a tad disappointed. There's no doubt that it was a good episode but given all the excitement and build-up, I don't think it met expectations. Aside from the fact that it had extra doctors and they were "saving" galifrey, it could have just been a normal episode.

Another thing that annoyed me was the side storyline (the nuking London thing) that was just abandoned halfway through. We had the scene with the inhaler which kind of promised more things to happen but then never went back to it. It felt like it was going somewhere but then never followed it up so that kind of annoyed me.

I think I can sum up what was wrong with the episode in 3 words: David Tennant's Fringe. Seriously, I just wanted to attack him with hair gel and fix it.

I'm not saying it was a bad episode, it was good. But I feel they over-hyped it.
