Good to know this is a tested type of competition.

I trust you, but I had to be sure, having signed up an' all.
Definitely agree about the challenge of metamorphosing. I was juggling methods around in my head at work today for a while, and it can get pretty hairy depending on what you're trying to do! Unless you are working in trios - cells 1 and 2 are of one element, 3 and 4 of a second, and 5 and 6 of a third, including stacks of pillars in at least two - you are almost certainly going to have cards at some point that you just can't play. Nova gets around this a little, but you can only use it in alternating rounds.
The upshot is that the middle of each round will see the person who is ahead struggling to hold a coherent deck together, giving his opponent a chance to catch up. I realized that before I asked, but I wanted your take on it.
I'm also relieved that you're willing to try the PM option, which is the only true solution I could think of. Naturally we'd all still be on even footing, assuming the matchups aren't announced earlier than immediately before each round happens, although the first round would be very different than the others, lacking an initial metagame unless we all posted definite starting decks.
