Metamorphosis - Round 2 https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=25204.msg321473#msg321473
« on: April 27, 2011, 10:19:51 pm »
Okay, first of all, lots of stuff going on in Round 2.

After a short break, there are a couple rules that are going to be active as of NOW.

Mercy
If you go through a round without winning a SINGLE game, you can go one mark back in your timeline and remake your deck. Sometimes you make a fatal error and just completely screwed over because of it. This gives you the chance to stay in the game.

Byes
In Round 1 there was a bit of confusion on how I should conduct byes, as a few players decided not to show or there was some issues in the matches.
Effective NOW, if you receive a bye for whatever reason, you gain a random mark that you have yet to complete. Your deck and current mark remain the same.
I may have instructed a few participants in a PM to conduct their byes otherwise. To those it concerns, consider those instructions null, I am taking this new rule into effect NOW.

As a side effect of this rule, a few participants who did not have a deck and received a bye last round may have a slight advantage for this round only.
I apologize for this, but I need to get the Round up. I would appreciate the sportsmanship if those participants decided not to use hard counter-decks for this round, but aside from this request I can do little about this advantage.

Reminders

Round 1 was a little bit lax for obvious reasons. But now that everyone knows the rules well enough (I assume), I'll be a bit more strict.
So a few reminders now so you don't make mistakes later:

- Your deck must have EXACTLY 6 cells. Most of your decks fulfill this requirement now anyways, but keep this in mind.
- You cannot change your mark until you win.
- Both the Winner and Loser must post their decks in the Battle Results Topic.
- You cannot freely change the size of Cells. You may however, add or remove ONE card from ONE cell each time you win.
- Take a moment to think before posting your End Deck. If you get caught with something unplayable, then you'll be set back a bit.
- Double check everything.
- Refresh yourself on the rules.

That's all, here are the Match-ups for Round 2!

Um, so if I did manage to win at least one game last round then that means I can't revert back to my original deck?

I think I might have to forfiet just to save me the time, how would that work out? would manaboy just change all his cells at will?

So my opponent can use any deck with that mark since he and his opponent did not play last round, and I am limited to my end deck?

I'd like to assume that you can just start over, but that might be too well wishing.

Since you're giving a OMGWTF advantage to anyone who has gotten a bye, I'd still like to see people who face players with a bye this round get to make a new deck with the current mark. Forcing them to go back a mark to keep some element of surprise is really unfair. And for future rounds, people who get a bye should have to post their starting deck before the round ends.
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

Uh, why is this swiss? Did you see my second latest comment in discuss the short break? http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,24982.new.html#new
EDIT: here was my full comment:
These say the number of players with each number of completed mark after the listed round.
round 1: 8 players with 1 completed, 8 players with 0 completed
round 2: 4 players with 2 completed, 8 players with 1 completed, 4 players with 0 completed
round 3: 2 players with 3 completed, 6 players with 2 completed, 6 players with 1 completed, 2 players with 0 completed
round 4: 1 player with 4 completed, 4 players with 3 completed, 6 players with 2 completed, 4 players with 1 completed, 1 player with 0 completed
The player with 4 marks completed and the player with no marks completed would have nobody to play against, and the alignment still wouldn't have any champion.

RootRanger (win) 3 - 2  Onizuka (loss)

Game 1: Loss

Game 2: Loss
Same deck as before. I just couldn't draw any graboids.

Game 3: Win
Same deck as before. I had a much better draw than before, and my opponent couldn't get the cards he needed.

Game 3 changes:
-1 Stone Pillar
6 Earthquake -> 6 Virus
2 Fog Shield -> 2 Lightning

Game 4: Win
Code: [Select]

Game 4 changes:
6 Stone Pillar -> 6 Immolation
6 Graboid -> 6 Phoenix

Game 5: Win

I could've tried to use a counter to RT, but it was risky because I wouldn't be able to test the deck and I would have to make it while I was playing Game 4. So I decided to just hope to get lucky with immo rush, the deck I had originally planned. I was indeed lucky, and managed to scrape out a win.

Marks completed:  :earth :entropy
