Tbh, the requirements are a bit stricter than I think is necessary.

PvP - As others have said, just because you haven't gotten first place in an event doesn't make you a bad PvPer; same vice versa (think like if somebody only won the tourney that was "all Fate Eggs, SoSer, and Mutation")

CIA - Activity =/= good card designer (I won't say any names but I can think of a few examples). Again, same vice versa (ex. OldTrees is not necessarily active in the CIA anymore but is an excellent card designer and is very knowledgable about card theory)

Forum Expert - Not much I can say about this one other than that the "must be a member for at least a year" seems harsh.

the thing about pvp/db can be changed to third place (if there was a battle for the third place) if so much players doesn't agree.
a lot of times winning a tournament means win 3 match, if u can't do it u aren't a good pvper lol, a lot of players are here from years, joining 2 weekly tournaments give u 24 tries/year (without counting the tournaments).

unfortunately this is the only way u can really know what a player can do; put something like "join 20 tournaments" can require a year to accomplish, i know that is harder than "draw a card"

about fun tournaments and "serious" tournaments: the mentality is almost the same, the luck factor is in any kind of tournament, i don't think is a problem if a player that won a sosa tournament wanna be a tutor.

What I can help you with: Unupgraded PVP and a general idea of how Battle League works. Walking you through how you should grow your account with grinding for rares and electrum.

Activity is sporadic but I can quickly respond to PMs. Generally inactive at 16-22 GMT.

Filling in, in case if there is some mentor drought or whatever.

Maybe grinding to 80 in 4 months should qualify me to be a grinding mentor? Jokes aside, I think the requirements should be laxed up a bit, or maybe there should be more categories. AI grinding in particular comes to mind, most forumers should be able to give tips for that. Having requirements for this is probably a good thing though, it reduces clutter, and ensures mentoring quality.

There is new criteria for applying mentors. There are three sections that one can apply to mentor for. The sections and their criteria are:

• PvP and Deckbuilding: Must have been involved in multiple PvP events and have achieved a top three placement in at least 3 (tournaments are included in this) Holding a PvP related staff position can substitute for the placement in events, though involvement is still a requirement.
• CIA: Mentors for this section must be active in the CIA section of the forums, both posting their own ideas as well as giving feedback on the ideas of other members.
• Forums Expert: Anyone applying to mentor in this section must have posts in at least 3 different sections of the forums and know said sections like the back of their hand.They also must have been an active member of the community and have at least 200 posts on the forums. Should have decent knowledge of BB code.

If you are planning to apply to become a mentor, make sure to read over the criteria for the section you would like to apply for.

Um, no. Getting 3rd place is really easy.

What if it takes time? You aren't supposed to be a mentor with a 1 or 2 months of activity in PvP events.
Also because winning a tournament is not that easy, you can participate in 50 tourneys and still fall short because RNG or just because skill. But getting a top 3 placement is way easier and 3 of those is very doable if you are active.

What would you guys think of having a section for the less serious parts of the forums, like Humor and Forums Games?

Do those really need guides? I mean, there's a certain expectation of common decency, and activity in the case of the forum games, but I'm not sure they'd really be worth doing. And even if they were, don't they also fall under the umbrella of 'forum expert?'
