"There's nothing up here."
You muttered underneath your breath as you climbed to the third story of the abandoned school building. Underneath your feet, the wooden planks creaked as you hesitantly avoided the gaping holes in the walkway.
And then you pause, holding your breath for a second.
Creak
The uneasy screech of the floor has left you frozen in your spot. No one else should be up here.
Creak
You hear it again, this time coming from downstairs.
>> What do you do?
>> Yell like a little girl
You cast you flashlight towards the stairwell, trying to peer into the shadows cast by the steps. Movement. You lean in trying to pick out what it is. You can tell the from the shape of the shadow that it is human. Or humanoid.
You take a step down, slowly maneuvering your flashlight towards the figure when there's suddenly a loud crash behind you. Startled, you let out a high-pitched squeel, almost akin to a frightened schoolgirl.
But not that you're scared or anything. Nor were you frightened to the point where you missed the step, slipped backwards, and diving head first through a gaping hole in the steps.
After a momentary trip through the darkness, you land with a dull, heavy thump. Your head hurts as you attempt to stand, but you can't get a good hold on the damp ground and you can't see anything save for the pale light from the hole above.
>> What do you do?
>> Feel around
You grope around the darkness, feeling around the damp ground for any obstruction until your right hand brushes against something metalic. Your hands wrap around, fingers interlocking with what seems to be a chain of sorts.
"What is this...?"
>> What do you do?
>> Pull It
You yank on the chain, hoping that it doesn't break lose from where ever it is attached.
It doesn't. It's not attached to anything.
As you pull in the chain, just past the skittering of the metal across the ground, you hear the creaking of floorboards above and some heavy breathing. Aside from yours, that is. But glancing up, you see nothing.
The chain has now been reeled in, the end barely visible with the lighting. You can almost make out the shape of a collar.
>> What do you do?
>> Move forward for a better look
You lean in to look at the object tethered to the end of the chain, being careful not to obstruct what little light you had available to you.
You still cannot make out what it is exactly at this point, but before you can pick it up to examine, you sneeze.
Achoo
It wasn't really that loud, but it echoed throughout the halls of the empty building. And the creaking above stopped.
Picking up the object, you confirm that it is some sort of collar, still wet from some sticky substance that has plastered itself to what seems to be a leather-like material.
>> What do you do.
>> Taste substance
For some bizarre reason, you had the sudden urge to lick it. Not like you could do much more with it in the darkness.
Extending your tongue, you expect to grimace when it makes contact with what you thought would be some leathery texture. Instead, it tasted of iron, the surface crusted over with a thin film of dark material.
You spit to the side, trying to get the taste out of your mouth. You hastily wipe your mouth, attempting to rub out the taste off your tongue or something stupid like that to find that it, too, has an iron-rich flavor.
You gag.
>> What do you do?
>> Bite your cheek
You dig your teeth into the soft flesh on the inside of your cheek, spreading the blood around your mouth.
But nothing changed. It's the same taste. The same iron taste.
>> What do you do?
>> Look up
For the first time in a while, you recognize how silent it is. Aside from the sound of your mute breathing, there was nothing else.
And that scared you.
Looking up to the hole, you notice a shadow cast on the floor above you. Or you think you did, because it soon vanished without a sound.
Still clenching on to the chain and the collar, you decide that you need to get out of here.
But how?
>> What do you do?
>> Imagine you have wings
You failed. Then again, it's kind of hard to do something scared when darkness rules supreme.
That and it wouldn't have helped. Wishful thinking.
>> What do you do?
>> Feel wall
Well, where is the wall? As far as you can tell the darkness seems to go on forever, despite how impossible that may be.
>> What do you do?
>> Start running
Well, what else did you have to lose?
You attempt to get up, but your shoes keep slipping preventing you from making any progress. You grunt as you try again.
No progress.
There goes any hope of being able to run away.
>> What do you do?
>> Feign illness
No need.
Before you can force yourself, you can feel something rising up your gullet. You manage to supress it for a bit after deciding it just might be a bad choice to vomit all over yourself.
>> What do you do?
>> Call in the chopper
There is no chopper.
Speaking of which, a butcher knife falls from above, embedding its blade into your left leg.
>> What do you do?
>> Wonder if you are insane
The jury is out on that, but there still must be something wrong with you IF YOU ARE NOT FREAKING OUT WITH THIS FUCKING BLADE IN YOUR FUCKING LEG.
Cough
>> What do you do?
>> Pull out
You apparently use your superpower. That is currently useless.
You stay on the ground bleeding and in pain when you hear something like the dull jangling of keys.
>> What do you do?
>> Remove knife
You attempt to, but apparently it has also dug itself into the ground beneath you.
You hear the scratching of a key against the door.
>> What do you do?
>> Look for chest
You grope yourself. Chest found.
>> What do you do?
>> Frantically try to remove knife
You turn your attention back to the blade. You wince as you attempt to remove the blade, but to no avail.
In your efforts, you actually wrench your leg from the embedded blade and shout in pain as blood now gushes forth from your limb.
But seeing as it was rather easy to remove, you kind of figured the blade did not hit any bone. Not that it really mattered WITH A FUCKING BLOODY GASH IN YOUR LEFT LEG.
>> What do you do?
>> Take off shoes
You've taken off your bloody shoes. You find that the bottom is incredibly smooth and really does explain whey the hell you were slipping everywhere.
You hear a door unlock somewhere.
>> What do you do?
>> Compare blood
You squint your eyes trying to make out the color of the blood on the knife, but to no avail. There isn't enough light to tell. But the strong scent of flesh blood confirms that it is blood on the collar. Type O positive. Because you have the resources to find that out. Not.
You hear the jostling of a doorknob.
>> What do you do?
>> Stand
Getting past the pain in your leg, you stuggle to stand. Resting all of your weight on your right leg, you decide it's best to get a move on before you fall again.
>> What do you do?
>> Find a corner
You try, but you don't know where the corners are. Or if you can make it with that shit leg of yours.
You bled out quite a bit and you feel lightheaded.
>> What do you do?
>> Head towards sound
You attempt to isolate the sound of the doorknob, but you couldn't to as it echoed around the dark room you're currently in.
The door opens.
