IRC and Mibbit is another alternative that we can use. It has the benefits of longer text lines and a few other commands. Bad things are that Mibbit has ugly smileys that annoy just about everyone and there's not a very good way to view history there.
http://piratepad.net is one of the better alternatives in my opinion. It lets us to have an area to chat with each other AND type up strategies, etc. for everyone else to see on the left. It even features a history function which allows us to go back and see everything that's been discussed since we went online. I used this chat during my TPvP4 adventure with Higurashi and Napalm and found it extremely useful.
http://sync.in/ was a chat site that I used during my brief HPvP adventure where I left due to a sudden case of pneumonia which set me back on quite a few things. Anyways, it features many of the same benefits as piratepad. I'd personally go with either of the two.
http://beta.primarypad.com is the last alternative that I can think of at the moment. I used it for discussing Deck Helper stuff with kev, but that was fairly brief. It has a very small chat window, but a very large typing space for typing, planning, etc.
Any other preferences/oppositions from anyone?
