Strategy List: Water https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=14205.msg179363#msg179363

Water is yet another heavy control element that stands in our way.

Strengths:
-CONTROL:  Water is ridiculous with trying to control the opponent.  Fortunately for us, Adrenaline makes a lot of this useless.  Freeze, Ice Bolt, Ice Shield, Arctic Squid, Flooding, Toadfish.

-Poison:  Not a threat unless it teams up with Death and considering we are :life, I don't see this being used at all.

-Healing:  Purify is pretty lame for healing, but it's enough to annoy us.

-Lobotomizer:  Mind Flayer is a nuisance.  Don't think it'll counter us that well though.

-Nymphs:  Okay, I'll be honest, this one actually concerns me.  Nymphs Tears enhances synergy with so many different elements, and the fact that Essence is all too familiar with using the said card means we need to be cautious.  Assuming the Nymphs don't become quinted, however, they should be very easy to eliminate with even the most basic forms of CC.

Weaknesses:
-Damage:  Water has very poor damage dealers to be honest.  Aside from Ice Dragon and (once in every blue moon) Steam Machine, there's not much for us to be concerned with.

-Permanent/Quanta Denial:  When it comes to these two subjects, we're pretty much free as a bird.  Trident is horrible at destroying Pendulums/Pillars.  I can't see too much compatibility with cards specializing in PC/Quanta denial either, which is rather unfortunate (this could be dangerous if underestimated, however).

-Adrenaline:  Adrenaline devastates :water.  A creature is frozen?  Lies.  Ice Shield is still annoying, but easily manageable.

The most likely strategy to be thrown at us is definitely going to be a stall, so I'm thinking reliance on Adrenaline should do the trick.  :water's synergy with other elements is pretty poor as well, so it should be easy to find weak spots in their defenses and push right on through.  But again, we're not underestimating anyone here ;)

Most likely synergies:
:water / :entropy:  Only for the possibility of pulling out Purple Nymphs.  Thorn Carapace is win.
:water / :death:  Could work, but it's pretty easy for us to counter poison.
:water / :earth:  A denial deck running off of Earthquakes and Tridents could be dangerous.  Enhances stalling ability as well.
:water / :life:  Amusing that this would be a great threat to us.  With this combination the opponents could actually try to outrush us (though unsuccessfully more than likely).  Forest Spirits are  mean as well.
:water / :fire:  Adds in undesired Perm Control, but the only real synergy is with Steam Machine...although something like this (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,14088.0/topicseen.html) could give us a headache.
:water / :light:  Could be an annoying stall, but not much else.
:water / :air:  Toadies?  Would be a good counter for Adrenaline, but the summoning sickness makes it a prime candidate for CC.
:water / :aether:  Mind Flayers, Fractal Squids, etc.  Dimensional Shields could be annoying though.  Not much use against :life.
:water / :entropy / :darkness / :aether:  Throwing this out there for consideration.  Basic layout for Nymphomania.

What then shall we do?

Essence has this nasty habit of pulling the weirdest decks ever out of his ass.

Looks good hrmm, should work, I'd just throw in a few more attackers if I were you, we don't want to get counter deck'd.  Essence does have a  :time/ :water stall.

I'm presuming the strategy there is to Adrenaline and Quint the frogs as soon as possible, whilst dropping shields?

I am worried that there's no CC, but I guess the odds of them using momentum are pretty low, so this should outlast ice shields.

The deck looks relatively solid, I will get to testing it.

EDIT: Bit of testing, and I like it. I'll run with this one.

G1tch:
you have a point. + 1 or 2 frogs
-1 pendulum? (testing will show about the pendulum #).

Daxx:
right.
make our critters immortal > cc against water. (in my sight, we will see -.-)
+ adrenaline against ice shields

they might pack toadfish (infection = early dead for every adrenalined critter).

:water:air could mean fogshield or wings.
fogshield: we might puch trough with adrenaline
wings: dragons, yea!

we still have some lightnings in the vault. if your testing results in a "cc must have", take some.
but maybe we should use them against gravity aswell.
and i dont wanna bulk up this deck to much. its a combo deck that probably work better if its slim.

I don't tend to have too much of an issue pulling out a dragon and a frog or two within three or four turns, with one or two quints. That's enough time to start chaining shields.

It doesn't really need CC once you get the shields up.

The only thing that messes this deck up is Speed Poison. We're just going to have to gamble on them not trying to outrush a Life deck.
