While I consider silly the concept of a fishing rod in the Elemental theme, I must say that this card is brilliant, although it overrides too much the will of the RNG, thus it might call her wrath upon its user. :D

Secondly, imagine this entity which you impersonate in the game, an elemental, able to invoke the most destructive forces of the universe upon his enemies, all of a sudden unsheathing a fishing rod... isn't it a little too silly? The concept of a fishing rod is perfectly representative of the effect you created, but it would be more fitting the atmosphere of the game a more badass weapon like the "Staff of Atlantis" or the "Spear of Command" or the "Net of Glaucus"...

To be honest, when I think about a fishing rod in Elements, I imagine a weapon whose function is to draw a creature in a flooded area to your hand/deck.
My idealized elements cycle:
Water -> Fire -> Air -> Earth -> Lightning -> Metal -> Light -> Darkness -> Wood -> Water

@Ghaladh Some very valid points there.

  • Invarably cast a creature: Yes, it does circumvent RNG some, but the order is still defined by how your deck has been shuffled - though using this card people would only include Arcic Dragons and/or Nymph Queens
  • Casting every turn, more than once: There are two solutions for that. The first is that AW would lobotomize the Rod, robbing it of its casting ability. There can be only one true Master Rod after all.
    As for casting every turn, the ability could be made EoT by stalling the Rod when ability is used, thus also representing how fishing takes time. Also thinking of raising ability cost to 4 :time and/or raising card cost to 6 :water
  • :water creatures with lots of abilities: This one I am not that worried about. It would probably require Rodbows to pul it off due to the variety of skill costs, and even then fitting them all in one deck would not be efficient. Might be wrong though...
  • Title: I think CIA cards seldom follow EtG's naming traditions. While the fishing rod might sound silly, Master Rod is grandiose enough I guess. Command Rod or something would work, but it's not specific enough for water (that could be made into summoning any creature, but that's probably beyond OP).

I have added a poll for the options I have mentioned

Mechanically, i understand Fishing skill is  :time because its related to draw advantage.
but thematically, i dun understand what does time have to do with fishing.

This kind of just begs to put into an all high cost creature deck.

Basically, just copies of this card and a whole bunch of water dragons and / or nymph queens.

Not sure if that will be OP or not.

seems pretty balenced to me, in order to do that you lose all versatility, sure an ice bolt works but will it be worth putting in

It all comes down to the details... particularly the flown interactions...
Right now, 4 :water + 2 :time and 3 cards yields this flown + 2 Dragons.
If the opponent doesn't frack it they will be facing a new dragon each turn until all 6 are in play.

Versatility?... You could have 6 dragons out by about turn 4. Who cares.

Ex: using time mark,
Turn1 Water towers
Turn2 This + animate + SoR -> 2 dragons
Turn3 activate then SoR then double activate -> 5 dragons
Turn4 active -> 6 dragons.

Barring any shields or heavy CC, that's a 4 turn win.

It has summoning sickness on turn 2 when you play it
this-animate-sor-dragon-dragon is 2 dragons by turn 3, then you can only keep using it once per turn even with extra sors
Your method would work if the thing was a time creature, but it's water with a time ability

not to mention you need those 5 cards by the time of turn 3 and thats provided you have the quanta to do so

this card has been floating around openEtG suggestions for awhile, but oetg decided to stick on 2 weapons per element for past decade

recently a weapon card design event was held, https://etg.dek.im/forum/index.php?topic=1460 which went with fishing rod for :water weapon

it's modified to not rush out dragons from deck, the weapons in event have been deployed to https://testetg.dek.im for players to try out
