Hello all.
League activity has hit an all time low and the League Organizers,
MasterWalks and
PlayerOa wish to explore the possibilities of revamping the League format to attract more participants.
Inspired by
Wyand's
Blue Ribbon League, we have proposed a new ruleset for the next season(s) of League. Of course, we won't implement such radical changes without first listening to you - the players.
This is a short summary of the new rules we are proposing. I will make a more extensive ruleset if this passes the poll, but this along with the original Blue Ribbon League topic should cover the basics:
- Each player face each other twice, once in a home match and once in an away match. Matchmaking just like a normal sports league, where you face your opponent twice during a season.
- Rounds are 7 days long.
- Players can ask to move their game to another week if they can't find a time to play. Must be approved by the LO.
- Each home player needs to pick a rule for both players to follow within the first 48 hours of the round. This choice must be made publicly in the round topic. If no ruleset has been picked, rules will be upped/unrestricted by default. After a ruleset has been posted, or after 48 hours, the match may start. Rules can be picked from a predetermined list of rulesets.
- Matches will be
Best of 4.
- If a player wins 3 games (3-0 or 3-1), he will receive
3 points from that match. The opponent will receive 0 points.
- If the match ends 2-2, both players receive
1 point each.
- The winner is the one who has gathered the most points after all the rounds. If there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be (games won - games lost).
- I will update standings weekly, just like a sports league table!
- Depending on how many participants we get, you will face either one or two opponents per round. I'm proposing <10 players = 1 game per round, >10 players = 2 games per round. This is up for discussion.
Here is an example of a round:
Please give your feedback on what you want, and vote in the poll. The results of the poll will make us decide whether we should stick with the original format or try this new format. The goal is to both increase active participants and maintain activity throughout the whole season.
