Why can I not get rolling in this game? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=30522.msg387824#msg387824

Hello all,

I have been playing for about a week, and after spending that grinding ai3 I finally got an almost fully upgraded ROL/Hope to fight FG's. Problem is I see all these stats on it but with what I have taken down on my paper here I get slightly less then 19% victories (and before everyone says it, I understand how it works and have read all the tutorials etc...). Then on top of that I rarely get an upped card from the spin. so I've blown through all my electrum and have to do AI3 3-4 times to do a FG only to have to skip it or not get a card.  Everyone in the forums seems to be having fun testing and building fully upgraded arena decks and PvPing, but I cant hold on to the money I get from a upped card sale for five minutes as it's usually gone after 15 FG skips, a few losses do to terrible draws, and 2 wins without a spin card... on top of that since I have the ROL deck I did get an arena deck going because people say you can make money that way if you suck at FG's but I have tried 4 unupped decks and a halfway upped fire golem deck and none of them can even approach 50% in even the bronze league so forget the extra spin i'm supposed to be getting shards and rares from (seen it once in a whole day of grinding). I can't believe everyone just sits and grinds AI3 for a month to get going in this game as that would be exceedingly tedious... What am I missing?

Luck, most likely. :/ Really, if RoL Hope doesn't work for you (and that's strange) you should try another FG farmer. Liquid Antimatter is good. If you fully up it (not halfway) it's amazing. Monoaether is very good too (especially upped, and you should have the towers too from RoL Hope). Try different decks, and start farming FG when you have a "budget" of about... say... 300 :electrum (that's easy thanks to Oracle and Arena).

A lot of people will disagree with me on this statement, but RoL/Hope is a crappy deck for most FGs, and that's why you're having trouble.  I don't know if it will help, but here's what I did when I started:

1) Screw around as a noob in AI2 for 2-3 learning the game.
2) Tackle AI3 and in another day or two was beating it pretty good.
3) Decided that higher AIs were too hard for unupped decks, so I sold my entire collection except for a monolife deck and upgraded as many cards in it as I could, and spent about a week grinding AI3 for more cash.  This was very boring, but a game could be won in about 2 minutes.
4) Built scaredgirl's 'almost unupgraded rainbow FG killer' deck (available on forums) and started taking on FGs and halfbloods.
5) Further upgraded that deck as I earned money and sold upgraded cards I won that I didn't want
6) Decided that I could do way better than scaredgirl's rainbow, and heavily modified it to be much better, then took on FGs to upgrade the rest of that deck.
7) Once I fully upgraded that deck, kept playing against FGs, and now no longer sell any upgraded cards unless I have more than 6 of it, as I work towards getting a full collection.  A lot of my cash now goes to either upgrading towers/pendulums (which are extremely hard to win from spins) or cards that none of the FGs have.

To get from scratch to a good FG rainbow deck took somewhere around 6 weeks for me, and I was unemployed at the time, so if you've managed to get a near fully upgraded RoL/Hope deck in a week, you're doing very well, even if you sadly bought one of the shittiest, most overrated FG grinders on the forums :p

Posting a deck in the arena will get a bit of free cash, but it's not much.  For example, my arena deck is 20-5 after two and a half days in platinum, so that's 200 electrum it made, or 80 per day.  It doesn't hurt to keep something up there all the time, but it will never be a high source of income; it's more about bragging rights.

I'd work on saving up for some sort of all-purpose rainbow deck if I were you.  Another thing you could do is take your rol/hope deck against halfbloods; it should have a pretty good win % there.

We can't really judge your deck unless you post it, there are many variations on RoL/Hope, each with varying success rates.

The decks that make you quick money in silver/gold/platinum do not give you the most special spins per minute in bronze. If you have the 3 lobos for RoL/Hope, then you don't actually need any rares except Pulverizer, but IMO it's faster to, with money from LS/AM or RoL/Hope against FGs, upgrade a deck built to get special spins in Arena.

As The_Mormegil said, if you have a streak of bad luck and go under your predetermined wallet size of maybe 300 coins, go to a more consistent way to gain money such as Arena or AI3.

Btw, .19*1260+(1-.19)*-30=215.1
So if you win 19% of the games and spin an average of 1 upgraded card per game, you still gain an average of 200 coins per game.

And only expect to win an upped card about every three victories (so about 9 spins).
.19*((1/3)*1200+60)+(1-.19)*-30=63.1
So if you win 19% of the games and spin an average of 1/3 of an upgraded card per game, you still gain an average of 60 coins per game.

I'll agree you should post exactly which RoL/Hope deck you're using, along with any relevant details like which gods you skip. FG farming is definitely where it's at in terms of electrum making, and RoL/Hope is one of my favorite ways to make quick cash. It absolutely can work. You've either hit a run of bad luck, or are using a less optimal build, or haven't learned all the little tricks that help the win %, or some combination of those.

There are many, many good variations of RoL/Hope. Here's a basic example:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5lk 5lk 5lk 5lk 6rn 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7ju 7ju 808 808 808 808 808 80e 80e 80e 80i 80i 80i 80i 80i 81q 81q 81q 81q 8pu

As for the possibility that you could play the deck better, mostly that's just a matter of practice, and knowing your opponent.

A string of bad RNG is the most likely answer though. If possible, keep a good supply electrum on hand (800 or so) to prevent you from having to play lower AI's when you have bad luck with the FGs. And only expect to win an upped card about every three victories (so about 9 spins).

Concentrate on tweaking your deck and playing as intelligently as possible against each FG. Perhaps cut back on the skips for a while, until you learn how to play the deck to have the best chance of beating each FG.

If you keep at it, you will eventually break through, and your money problems will be over.
