thought i'd try something different. tired of losing due to unbalanced archetypes and unlucky coin flips.
i've been playing this game for about 2 weeks. i like the game design and the extensive info on the forums. very impressive.
the speed of games is also refreshing, but there is a clear disadvantage presented by the automated AI's movements;
there's no "chain" system. so far, it looks like there's no way to use an effect during an opponent's turn or respond immediately
to an action. am i wrong? other TCGs/CCGs tend to have this feature. not a big deal though. enjoying the game.

You aren't wrong, elements has neither chains nor instants/traps/quick activations. As a fellow yu-gi-oh player I welcome you and hope you enjoy elements as much as I do.

Chains in elements would be pretty funny. "I deflagrate your farenheight!" "I deflagerate your deflageration!" "I deflagerate your deflageration deflagerating my deflageration!" Or steal battles. "I steal your shield!" "I steal it right back!" "And I steal it back again!"

Anyways, welcome to elements official forum!

Yeah, the lack of surprise from being unable to chain cards from the hand and being unable to play face-down cards that automatically chain from the field* kinda make most of the games/decks pretty boring. However, I do hope you enjoy your stay, and be sure to check out the creative areas of the community as well as competitive PvP events.

*Automatic chaining is the only option because the developer, Zanzarino, is adamant about having only one person with the ability to make choices at any point of the game to promote fluidity and mitigate lag problems.

I prefer no quick-playing.
Rather than just having that one card in hand to counter your foe, you have to actually take the risk, or straight up play cards that cover your weaknesses

I understand Zanz's point of wiew on traps system... If he would implement it, games will be much slower, and that is one of the points of force in Elements.
Anyway, as a player of Yugioh, i hope you enjoy your stay! :D

Good to have you, I just joined too. I used to play Yu-gi-oh, but with the 5D cards and whatnot it became ehh.

Some of my friends used to play Yu Gi Oh pretty intensely and sometimes I'd watch or play with their spare cards (which they had a lot of). It literally looked exactly like that. There is a card called Counter Counter which is only used to counter counters and counter counter can be used to counter another counter counter. In one encounter with counter counter I lost count of all the counter counter countering. Anyways enough Dr. Seuss.
