broooooooo I also do martial arts. I've heard MMA guys are way in shape and stuff and it's true cause I've met some. I'm kind of young so I've only had time to really get into Shotokan, which I really love. I also dabble in the sword and the wooden stick and kama too. And drills, application stuff. You know Sensei Lopresti? He's based in the Philly area, which you're closer to than I am.
And about this Donuts/Noodles/Bacon stuff: it's a reference to this event a user called NikaZaslavsky and I created a couple years back. This right here is the (sadly unfinished) event and released cardset. I hope to, once I get off my virtual butt, launch a sequel with Bacon as a new food element.
Man, you are interesting and talkative and etc. Post those decks of yours over in the Deck Ideas subforum and see if you can't get them out there, see how well they hold up in tourneys.
And stay a while! We'd love to have you around...Forever.
i'm kidding don't think i'm creepy pleasee
Oddly enough, I never got into any forms of Karate. The first martial art, if you can call it that, was Capoeira. There's really no physical contact...most of the time. Check it out...check out some YouTube videos, read up on it on Wikipedia...I found it fascinating. I was always insanely flexible and acrobatic when I was young, so I fell in love with this.
As far as MMA, yeah, way in shape is a good way to put it...out of necessity. Not only for strength, but your muscles have to be conditioned for speed and stamina as well. The more bulk,
generally the slower you get if you don't train correctly, and your muscles swell and fill with blood while fighting (an awful feeling) , so it's all lean muscle...much how a wrestler's muscle is very different from a bodybuilder. A wrestler can go for 30 minutes and not burn himself out. But taking striking into account, and also your jui-jitsu game, you need explosive power on tap...it's a hard balance. And some mass does help, since you're literally getting a beating, and you need something to take impact. You'll see a lot of fighters with shredded abs, not for looks, but that's all you've got over your stomach...take a shot to the gut, or a solid round kick without a well built stomach with thick abdominal muscles, and you'll drop fast.
It all takes a massive toll on your body. Striking has it's cautions...usually you're wearing gear when sparring full force. Rolling with the overly-aggressive major ego guys on the mat who'll crank every submission like they're going for the UFC belt...that's the worst. Can't train very well after one of them tears into your rotator cuff, cranks an armbar until the capsule in your elbow starts to flex the opposite way, without giving you any time to tap. They don't last long in any respectable academy. I do miss it though...but once the spine got injured from a collision, I couldn't feel comfortable risking that.
I've been to Philly quite a few times for tournaments, but I've never trained in the area. Oh, and some advice...if you wanted to expand on your training, find a good Judo academy. I cannot explain how fun it is when training Judo throws...the speed they get executed at, and just by simple physics, how fast the other person rotates and hits the splash mat is incredible.
And that was a ramble and a half. I checked out that Donuts/Noodles thread...pretty funny cards.
Once I create some totally original decks, I may do so. All the ones I use are more or less variations of ones I've played against, or seen on the forums in the and tweaked a bit until I felt they suited my playstyle. I'm getting there...I've made some solid ones for the arena. Ones that actually have winning records until my HP drops! I was excited..

And thank you all for the most welcomes I've gotten on a forum, ever.
