Casual pvp is the best way to learn pvp. Unfortunatly a lot of people in chat are often afk, but there is also discord and the kongregate chat.
The game is also played on kongregate. If you have kong account you can ask people to join pvp1 or 2. Kongregate has a lower level, more casual community.
A lot of people are active and chatting, which gives an option to ask people to play pvp. You could play with your normal forum account open (+kong) and join the pvp que from there.
I play pvp nearly every day, but you have to find the right place.
There is a tournament organised every weekend here, which is more difficult. You can win a mark card or nymph for first place.
No need to register, just show up early.
You can also join major pvp events, which last multiple weeks.
