got a question about how quanta are chosen for colorless effects https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=36881.msg463231#msg463231

when i put a shard of readiness on my creatures, it seems to be avoiding using my few precious aether quanta when i have quintessence in my hand. am i just imagining this? does it try to take the costs of my hand and abilities into account?

and what quanta do devourer's take? random? sometimes it seems they focus on the one you have just a few of.

Both use the same random mechanic but they do not base it off total quanta. Rather they choose ,1 quanta at a time, randomly between your quanta pools that have quanta in them.

Say you have  :aether :aether :aether :aether :air :air :darkness :death
Each of  :aether :air :darkness and :death have a 25% chance of being chosen.
If  :death was chosen then you would have  :aether :aether :aether :aether :air :air :darkness.
This would result in each of  :aether :air and :darkness having 33.33% chance of being chosen.
