Question on PvP

I've been having trouble getting games on PvP. I click on the button, it goes to the screen where you wait for an opponent, but it takes forever to get a game. This mostly happens during the day (I'm in NY so that's Eastern Standard Time). Most of the time I just give up.

Is it just me? Is it because fewer people play during the day? Is it normal and I should just be patient? Is it because I need a shower? (j/k) 

It's very frustrating, because that's the best way to practice against unpredictable opponents. How will I ever get good enough for tournaments if I can't play PvP?

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it's pretty true, random PvP does make you wait forever...
for PvP, I generally join PvP events, or I pm someone in the chat
