hey everybody!

because i have to travel a lot i decided to buy a small laptop to take with me all the time!
so yesterday i bought an asus eee pc 1201 with windows 7 & everything is running very well except ELEMENTS :(
elements is running incredible slow that any fun of playing is gone. for example it takes more than a minute to wait until oracle turns...
of course i am not the computer specialist - so it would be realy great if someone could give some (if possible quite simple) suggenstions what i can do in order to make it run like i was used to...

THX a lot,
c.

The problem here is that netbooks are very slow compared to PCs or even regular laptops. The first thing to try would be to press the settings button in Elements (above the main window) and decrease the graphics quality. The game doesn't seem to remember the setting so just do it every time you're loging in. Sure the game won't look as pretty but that's not as noticeable on a small screen.

The other thing you could try doing is updating your graphics drivers. If you installed Windows yourself then chances are they aren't even working at all. If you don't know how to do this then it may be beter to leave them as they are. - But anyway you'd have to go to the website of the manufacturer of your graphics card and look for the latest drivers for that card that are compatible with your version of Windows (...make sure you know if they're 32 bit or 64 bit). And absolutely don't download and install drivers from anywhere else. There are many websites that look trustworthy yet are not.

I daresay uninstalling a firewall and AV system might help, but its certainly not worth the risk IMO.

first of all: thx a lot for the suggestions!
now what i did:
1.) firefox - no effect (think even google chrome was working better)
2.) swiched off FW / AV "kamikaze" (no effect)
3.) game quality button (quality went down much more than speed up)
4.) i updated the graphic driver from the manufacturer (i have the feeling there was a small effect)
5.) windows xp - well i guess this is quite a big step (for me especially) - and as i am not sure about the consequences i did not do it until now...
6.) HDD partition should be fine (i bought the computer yesterday) - or i understood u wrong?
7.) and the thing with virtual ram - sorry about my poor comp. skills ???
so:
i guess someone was posting something about also other ways to play it (and some problems that came with it) / but i just can not find the post anymore :(
any other ideas?
i read in the forum also that one day there shall be a button which is swiching off the animations! THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!
greetings, thx and happy easter,
c.

partition the HDD in 2parts, so all your things wont get bundled into 1 (C drive and D drive)

my comp > properties > advance > prefromance > setting
Virtual ram should be there

How hot is it, it doesnt speed it up, but it gives you an idea why it is slow

for example, if its running at 70-90degree C then that just means you need extra cooling for your laptop

For example, mine was very hot, so i took my Cd rom out for extra air to go thru it, now its great =)
