Getting back into play after being under 500 in the Arena https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=53765.msg1126193#msg1126193
« on: February 15, 2014, 08:46:18 am »
Yesterday, DANIEELA sent me a message saying that she had beaten twice my arena deck. I go and check and those were the only two games played. Needless to say, in platinum two losses and no wins mean getting out of the league.
I just opened Elements, spin the oracle and want to build an arena deck. However, when I get to the arena, I can see that my deck made yet another game and still is in play. It now is ranked 397 and effectively in play.

I posted this in troubleshooting instead of bugs because I think this was meant (my deck went under 500, a lot of decks in the Tier500 lost, and not many were submitted, and they went under me giving me a boost in order to enter the Tier500 where I played one game and won that), but I still think this isn't normal. If a deck falls out of the Arena it shouldn't be able to return, no matter what.

How would you prevent this? Say your deck was rank 501 and an arena deck dropped below it, what would happen to your deck? Would there just be no number 500 deck?

This or, although it may look strange, if there's no new deck to replace them, decks shouldn't fall out of Tier500.

Decks that fall under 500 could be automatically deleted.

I don't see the problem with getting back into the top 500.

It happens very rarely.
It isn't bad for the owner of the deck, as he has another chance to get some electrum.
It isn't bad for those that fight the deck, as it is already not the best deck.
The only ones for who this is negative, is those that didn't fall out of arena,
since the chance your deck gets picked is slightly lower.

for me, it really doesn't matter. i see no reason for a chance - but neither would I see one if it was the other way around.
be quick- time is quanta.

The problem would be with having less than 500 decks to play with.

@dragtom, what do you mean by "the chance your deck gets picked is slightly lower"? As long as there are 500 decks, there'll be a chance of 1 on 500 to meet your deck, no matter what. If anything, it may rise if we follow Dm's suggestion.

Dm's suggestion would be the most simple and IMO, the most practical. The top 500 are sorted around according to rating and anytime a new arena deck comes in, the current 500 spot is eliminated.

Oh, thanks, I kinda misread his post.

Seconding Dm's idea, looks really awesome.

I agree with those who think the system is working fine as is - if you're lucky enough to get back in the top 500, you get back in! And if you don't want that deck back in, you can always make a new one with your new Oracle card!

I don't see any problem with this either. I think deleting decks as soon as they drop below 500 would create a worse pattern. Now, if a deck (A) gets back from beyond-500 it means another deck (B) has fallen out and got worse rating. If the system did not keep deck (A) around, then deck (B) with stay in the top-500 instead, but it is worse, which means in extreme scenario you can have some bad deck hang around even if it keeps getting beaten a lot, just because no new deck was submitted.
