You can email the developer if you want, but it might not get you anywhere. If you explain to him very carefully what happened he might look at the database for you.
I repeat this because it doesn't seem like you saw it the first time.
thanks for being the lone voice of reason, however, zanz blocks all PMs, and i stated already that i had PMed scaredgirl.

issue has been resolved however, as i reversed the payment through paypal and included what happened in the "message sent to seller".

this is seriously unfair.

i know that i made a mistake, but they will seriously do nothing about it?

way to look out for those who are actually supporting the game.
Sorry man, it's called reading the directions.... you just didn't read them. Happened to the rest of us too, chill.
i play on kong. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS.

just a link to paypal.

well ill just reverse the transaction through paypal.

i cannot believe i am treated with utter disdain for making a mistake while DONATING.

if they do not make it clear, while donating, that redeem codes can be lost this way, then they can expect peopel to make mistakes.
Please don't let the careless comments made by one person cause your anger to escalate.  I am sincerely sorry that this has happened to you but as others have stated, there really isn't much you can do at this point.  There have been instances when Redeem Code issues have been overturned by zanz himself due to enough evidence supplied by the donator.  I suggest you do as ddevans has suggested and e-mail zanz and hope that this can be rectified.

I'm really sorry that this happened to you, but I can tell you that this is probably just an unintended side-effect in the donation process.

It's probably there to make sure you don't use the same code over and over again, but I guess it doesn't have a way of keeping track of whether you actually claimed your reward.

Please don't hold anything against the game because of your mistake, I can assure you that Zanz isn't trying to cheat you or put you down in any way.

Even better, if you can think of a solution to the problem, talk to him and maybe we can do something about it.

thank you for the rational response.

from the paypal claim i have been able to start dialog with one fo the devs, though i am not sure if it is zanz or not.

i am currently waiting on his response to my much more detailed explanation that i sent him.

i do hope it works out for the best and that the community can in some way benefit from my mistake.

No problem.

And just in case you would like to know, here's a quote with a bit more detailed information.

And I don't know if it could be done better from programmers point of view, because I don't know if communicating to the server after the reward is chosen causes any security risks (if it could be abused in any form), but if it doesn't then I guess that would be a better solution.
If the code would not expire when you hit the "validate" button and BEFORE you can pick your reward you could exploit the system in many many ways.
Example: open multiple accounts, validate the same code at the same time on all of them, get multiple rewards from the same code. etc. etc.

That said, if there are indeed any good reasons for such a choice (eg. Zanz saving 20 minutes of his life) it's worth it.
There are thousands of online games out there, I can not even begin to explain how honored I feel when someone decides to pick my game out of such a huge pool of choices: 20 minutes is nothing, I often spend 8 hours non-stop working on elements when I am in the right mood. But you are missing the main point here, you are thinking about a 1:1 developer:player ratio. If every player today had an issue that required my attention for 20 minutes it would take me about 4,000,000 minutes to fix the issue for every single player (4,000,000 minutes means 7.6 years).

You are about to say "yes but the codes are 4 per tournament, not 200,000". The answer is: "it does not matter", why should I give a special treatment for player X because he won a tournament and ignore player Y that is having a problem with a ban or player W that lost the connection while getting his oracle's reward.

Also, poor internet connections will always put an online player at disadvantage, that started when Adam was about to lose a "tic tac toe online" game against Eve and turned off his modem. Since that day, your connection goes bad = you lose.

why not have a double register?

have the code expire upon use, but a separate reward expiration?

this solves multiple account abuse, as well as connection issues.

if someone loses connection before reward, then the "redeem code" button could just take them straight to a reward screen (although i thin the 4th card is a random card, and that in itself could be abused... maybe generate the card upon code expiration and not every time they go to collect reward?)

There's no random card :)

I actually think that might be a good idea. There could be "Redeem a code" and "Claim your reward" as separate menus, which would solve the problem, maybe. Maybe add in a check function to make sure that the reward has not already been claimed.

Dunno if it would work though.

are you sure? im pretty sure the reward screen gives you the option of one of the shards or an upgraded random card...

at least, i remember seeing an upgraded chimera on there for my second donation, but i had no use for it, so i took the shard of gratitude.

One thing. While I understand your problem, remember it's donating, not buying. You are giving money to the developer because you think his game is cool. The shards are just a bonus.
