Devourer's passive is pretty central.  Also, I ninja-edited.  ;)

It could be argued that facing damage-based CC is situational, just like Wings, yet we also have the Airborne passive.
Good point. I guess the difference between Innate and Perpetual is only whether it can or should not be removable.
(No Dune Scorpion? :P)

Woops, yes Dune Scorpion, adding it!

The buff to Plate Armor is especially interesting.  I should also add which flown weapons would have it.

I am going to be hosting a competition for Passive skills, soon as Zblader says go.
What criteria should we be looking for?
If Nowhere is Somewhere, and Somewhere is Over there, How can we be Anywhere?

I am going to be hosting a competition for Passive skills, soon as Zblader says go.
What criteria should we be looking for?
-originality in concept
-originality in mechanics
-compatibilty with general game mechanics
-synergy potential with other card/elements
-appropriate within game boundaries (OP or not OP or UP)

I suppose those are the general criteria it should have, as i see it anyway.

I need someone to better define how to tell the difference between innate active and perpetual passive.

only thing really set in stone as far as i am concerned being innate can be lobo'd, while perpetual cannot be.

personally i would like it if creatures could have an innate and an activated ability, and any number of perpetual abilities/status effects

How would Lobo affect a creature with both Innate and Activated abilities?

the same way lobo affects creatures with momentum and <picking a random active ability> ...growth, it will remove both.

for the end date of the competition, i think 2 weeks is sufficient time for people to develop card ideas.
for the number of submissions per person, i would personally allow for a cap of 2 ideas, each with an up/unupped card

but a good question is are we looking for innates, perpetuals or both? given their relatively little difference, id go with both.

unless we differentiate innates and perpetuals by requiring a perpetual to be a theme shared by many creatures, such as airborne, and force non-theme non-active abilities to be innates?

Lets leave the competition as perpetuals (passives) only. That creates the challenge for each member to explain why their idea for a perpetual(passive) should not be an innate(automatic active).

I think that the permanence of perpetuals should define what should be a perpetual vs an innate. Things that are inherent as part of that creature or species (like Poisonous) would fit as Perpetuals because removing it would not make sense.

some skills may likely switch from perpetual to innate, or vice versa then.  i cannot see the reason that vampire and devour are not in the same category, both are essentially consuming and transforming
