Always support the underdogs. When they do win, it will be worth it. And you can finally say 'I told you so'
I find it funny that a lot of people here posted trouble during conversations... I think that type of person is drawn here.
I definitely have a bad habit of interrupting someone talking to point out squirrels like someone said earlier. Or sometimes it because I see something I want to talk about. I think I just suck at face to face interaction. My girlfriend is always getting pissed at me when I interrupt her with some random factoid that she could care less about...
I kind of fail at talking. I have no ability to listen to people unless they are talking about facts. I just zone out and start thinking about fact based things...
My worst fail habit, I don't understand why people talk with each other. Does anyone here "hang out"/"chill" with friends and just talk? I have yet to grasp why people choose to do this. For me it is awkward and makes me feel pressured to say something interesting and coherent as well as listen attentively. From the start I have nothing to say and feel like we need to be doing something. At least if I am bowling/playing monopoly/cooking/trying to pick up girls or something else then I don't feel the need to talk the whole time.
Example: friends want to go to a bar and hangout. I don't understand this. Where is the purpose? I need some kind of reason to do this kind of thing...
Sometimes I agree with you completely about not wanting to hang out for the sake of hanging out. However, this depends on the people I'm with. Can they entertain me, or do the engage me in interesting conversation?
I can talk for far too long to someone, standing awkwardly at a corner, even though we both need to do something else, as long as I am enjoying myself. However, if the conversation at any time feels forced, suddenly I wonder why I am still there, and excuse myself, meaning hanging out can last between 5 minutes and 5 hours.
As for the fact thing, I can't really understand. If its not really relevant to the conversation, I always wonder what is going through the persons mind to make him/her think about that.
And as to your idea that people who don't speak well are attracted to here, I can partially agree. However, they obviously have some speaking talent, as if you read how the long time forum members write, they are generally quite well written, and intelligent, because those are some of thethe qualities respected the most on Elements Forums. Whether they can speak that fluently in casual conversation is a different sotry.
