Yes you are right simple creatures like virusses or bacteria don't need Iron, as I said in the post before yours. But all other more complex creatures (at least here on Earth) do need it. Imagine elements would only consist of virusses as creatures ;)
But then again theoretically there could also be creatures on other planets which don't have some of your mentioned materials but use other things.
