Okay, so this is a game my brothers, cousins and I used to play.

It goes like this:
1) Make a statement, any statement. Try to make it something simple, like "grass is green" or "I wear glasses".
2) Try to prove that statement unarguably true.

I will then reply with things that you need to establish in order for your proof to work, or reasons why one of your statements is not completely convincing.

Reply back with further proof, until either a) everyone working on a given proof gives up or b) you manage to succeed.

I bet you 1 internet no one can manage to exhaustively prove something to be true.

One statement at a time please. Wait until the previous person/group has given up before starting your own. If you want to join in you can always try to help the group ahead of you.

I've got an even easier one to prove.

I think, therefore, I am.

Let's do $$$man's first, otherwise it'll get confusing.

You must now prove that the two emoticons are different.

They have different features.  Whereas one has vertical lines indicating teeth, the other has an absence of said lines.  Furthermore, when one wishes to present these objects, one does so through two very different keystrokes.  While the first emoticon is typed with a colon : followed by a closing parenthesis ), the second emoticon is typed by first using a semicolon ; followed by a closing parenthesis ).

To compound the difference, the name of one file is "cheesy.gif" and the name of the other is "grin.gif".  Both these facts can be gained by right clicking the emoticon and choosing to open the link in a new tab.  The name of the tab and URL of the link both supply the file's name.  Screenshots can be provided if further proof is necessary.

Personally I accept that explanation but in the spirit of the game....

How do you know these are different files?  How do you know there are teeth?  How do you know they're typed differently?

Everything TheOwner said applies, but I should also point out that you have not conclusively shown that the files are distinct. Two identical files can have different names, and likewise two different series of keystrokes can produce the same characters.
.
For instance, if I hit "F1" followed by "a" or if I hit "a" followed by "b" then "backspace" I have produced the same symbol from different keystrokes

After they answer our challenges lets do some more complex things but we accept more things (previous explanation would be accepted)

I'm more than happy to discuss more complex issues, but a thread in the humor section might not be the right place for that.

The idea behind the game is to use various debate tactics, insistence on rigorous proof and infinite demands for more support of evidence to try to make obtuse what should be a clear cut issue.

Obviously we can all tell that the two icons are different, and casually we would all accept the first statement at face value. But can we prove it?

Then I will answer

As plainly seen by the human eye (using the retina and the bending of light to perceive the shape and form and the rod and cells to perceive the color) the images are from different files which are not exactly the same one has pixels arranged to make it appear to have four teeth while the other has the pixels arranged to appear to have one tooth.  The rest of the pixels however, remain the same.
