POLL: Do we need more polls? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=8285.msg94379#msg94379

One thing I see wrong with this forum is staff members (especially the upper management) making decisions without asking the community first. This is a bad thing because everyone should have a chance to voice their opinions on everything that happens around here.

Sure some people might say that its' the job of these staff members to do these decisions (like jobs in real life) and they generally know more details than some average "Johnny Noob" who joined yesterday, but I say those people are complete morons.

Need a new Global Moderator? -> start a poll about it
New forum event rules? -> start a poll about it
Change the color of a button? -> start a poll about it

With a different poll for each individual decision, everyone will be 100% satisfied with the results.

There can never be enough polls really. Polls are the ultimate tools for democracy and happiness, and without polls we are all just a bunch of communists.

Not entirely true.  The majority will be 100% satisfied with the results. :)

With all the polls ending up with what I chose, I will be 100% satisfied. Anyone else who chooses this will get what they voted for, too, and also be 100% satisfied. Thus, my option is the ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE that gives a 100% happiness rate.

Eh, that's debatable.  We'll probably need to setup a poll to find out...

Interesting.. "the more polls, the better" hasn't received any votes. I guess people, while understanding the importance of polls, also think that there is a limit on how many polls should be running at a time.

This is of course understandable because the average forum user, after answering all the new polls, probably has no more time left to post or even play Elements.

One solution for this would be to merge different polls into one. For example lets say we have two polls:

1. "Is Earth better than Fire?"
2. "Do we need a new forum logo?"

We could simply have one "yes or no?" poll called: "How do you answer to polls 1 and 2?". This way a person could only click once, but his votes would be counted in both polls. That would save 50% of voters time.

May I propose an alternate suggestion?

Although each individual member of the forums cannot possibly read and vote all the polls on this forum, together, we can systematically read all the polls by starting a poll like this:

"Which polls on the forum have you not read?"

Thus, other users may be alerted of these polls without actually having to go to them, allowing every member to get a grasp of every poll.
