A strange puzzle.

The question is: with the following deck, what is the strongest creature you can create without the opponent playing any cards (they can't bless/mutate/etc your pests)?

It's kind of funny how it works... it's a bit exploitive of a certain game mechanic .

Let me see..... You play pest, then play Eclipse. Now you got a 2/4 creature, you antimatter it, now you have -2/4? Explode the eclipse, now you have a -4/3 creature? You antimatter it back, now you have the pest at 4/3 stat. Now you play another eclipse, and you get a 6/4 creature and repeat what you did before. Is that right? I'm not really sure, I usually don't bother with trainer so I'm just guessing.

I'm guessing it goes Eclipse, Antimatter, Explode Eclipse, Antimatter repeat. I'm not sure whether that would give you +2 or +4 per cycle, but in any case my guess is 14/5 - +12 from 3 cycles (using 6 antimatters), +2 from another eclipse.

I think this is right. After 2 of each Eclispe and Animatter, you have a 6/4 creature, after 4 of each you have a 10/4 creature, so I think the highest is a 14/4. Pretty powerful.

Pest (0|4)
Eclipse (2|5)
Antimatter (-2|5)
Explosion (-4|4)
Antimatter (4|4)

Antimatter (-6|5)
Explosion (-8|4)
Antimatter (8|4)

Antimatter (-10|5)
Explosion (-12|4)
Antimatter (12|4)
Eclipse (14|5)

And you're out of Antimatters.  Throw a Purple Nymph in there and you can go further.  Note that for every Eclipse or Explosion you use two Antimatters - 14|5 is the highest you can get, but you'll still have two Eclipses and three Explosions in your deck.

I actually did this already, with an Obsidian Dragon. The whole thing was for that video competition, but I never ended up actually posting it...

Yes, it's an odd little mechanic, but it makes sense. As destroying an Eclipse/Nightfall is the only way to make creatures "lose" attack (Outside of Anti-matter, but that's different), it can be utilized with Anti-matter to "stack" Eclipse on a Darkness/Death creature.
