Maybe a minimum of 11 isn't enough, because top tier players can effectively choose their element and sell for less than they otherwise would have.  Maybe 2*elements boycotted, or 3*?
Yeah thats what the N is for.   :P  N would be decided by ScaredGirl and could be any number (2, 2.5, 3, pi) as long as the final result was rounded up or down.

I'm an agreement with the OP on this one.

While I don't think all cards should be made equal, Ice Bolt is extremely underpowered compared with the other Bolts available.  If Water was a lot stronger than what it is this could be overlooked, but that is not the case.

Bolts have 2 functions: 1)Target the opponent for direct damage 2)Target a creature for control.

Regarding the first function, Fire Bolt and Drain Life are strictly better than Ice Bolt.  You can argue the relative benefits of healing yourself (Drain) vs. more damage (Fire).  But you CAN'T argue that doing less damage AND not healing yourself is anyway better.

In regards to creature control Ice Bolt fails as well.  If your aim is to freeze creatures put Freeze in your deck.  For Ice Bolt the operative word is "might".  Plus, Water also has Ice Shield and Squid available to it which are renewable freezes.  You don't have to waste deck space putting in a card that "might" freeze or "might" kill based on the target's HP vs. how much  :water you have.  If your aim is to kill creatures then the freezing effect of Ice Bolt is completely unnecessary.  If your opponent manages to bring a large creature out early you will have to use 2 or even 3 Ice Bolts to kill it.  In that case you might be better off taking Freeze plus Shockwave.  The only case where Ice Bolt is going to be better for creature control is when you know your opponent is going to have a lot of 1 or 2HP creatures or they are not going to have any large creatures out until late in the game.  Both of those scenarios are unrealistic.

When designing your deck, in general you are adding a Bolt only for one of the functions.  In the Fire Lance Sudden Killer deck (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,6758.0.html)(just noticed it was created by the OP) any Bolts you use for creature control is going to decrease your chances of winning--that's why it relies on the Phase Shields for protection.  A similar Ice Lance based deck would take 50% longer to achieve the necessary quanta and would fail.  In a drainer deck your Devourers are bringing in extra quanta allowing the Drain Life to catch up to a similar Fire Bolt in terms of damage. Water has no way to generate additional quanta.  If you have to use a Drain Life early its ok because you are generally going to have other damage dealers(dragons or vampires) and Drain Life is probably the best control you can bring.  Parasites and Liquid Shadow also take the creatures HP into consideration.

If Water becomes buffed enough through other cards then the relative weakness of Ice Bolt won't matter because of the strength of the element as a whole.  But as it is now, why not buff Ice Bolt to make Water that much better?

Did not read the whole thread.

If a player does not want to play for a team (regardless of how many vetoes they had) and they get picked by said team, they are not going to be as enthused about playing as they would for a team of their choosing.
Example: (http://imageplay.net/)

How about allowing each mercenary to veto as many elements as they want.  For each element vetoed the General has to pay an additional N cards.  So, if a top player (or any player actually) only wants to play for team  :earth, they will have a minimum bidding price of 11 x N.  If a player feels they are worth it they can risk it.  If they know they aren't as good of a player or they don't care who they play for then they won't veto any element.

The mercenary's application would have to be locked in so they can't change it at the time of selection giving their team an unfair advantage.

Osiris

[deck]

Eternities for Momentumed creatures. Shards of Divinity for extra money and Shards of Gratitude for healing.
That worked great.  Thanks.

Maybe you should make a topic under the Osiris section?

Issue Archive / Re: Auto-mulligan or no towers bug?
« on: June 19, 2010, 11:52:12 am »
Elements 1.21

Auto-mulligan function:

Q - How does it work?
A - If none of the cards in your initial hand can be played during the first turn (none has cost 0) you'll automatically get 7 new cards. Only once.

Q - Am I going to realize a "mulligan" happened?
A - No.

Q - Why can't I decide myself if I want a mulligan?
A1 - People would use it to drastically improve the chances of getting the desired card X in the initial hand.
A2 - It would force me to add an extra turn in pvp games before the game actually starts: more waiting, more questions, more clicking.
A3 - I still want bad/good initial hands in the game. What I do not want is having 8 cards in your hand and having to discard one during your first turn - just too frustrating.

Q - I think it should count the number of pillars instead of the number of cost 0 cards
A - There are pillar-less decks

Q - I strongly prefer the system where I can have a mulligan, but if I get one I'll get less cards and it can be repeated up to 3 times, unless it is a first Monday of the month in which case I can get 2/3 of the cards that my opponent had yesterday.
A - Simple = Better

Q - I played a game where I still could not play any card during my first turn
A - You might still draw 14 cards and no pillars - did you try adding pillars to your deck?

On many gaming sites the Top Scores seem to be the easiest thing to hack.  The hacked name will eventually be deleted though.

the "OLD SPICE ODER BLOCKING BODY WASH!!" commercial. the one where he goes "BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK............BBBBBBBBLOOOOOOOOOOOCK!!!!!"
Oh. Must have missed that.

When I see Obliterator's name pop up, it reminds me of the oubliette from Labyrinth, for some reason.

You and Troh will have started a craze for people who haven't won any nymphs yet.  It looks like when you start one of these threads you will get a nymph in an average of 3 days!

It wasnt my destiny to win this one. In 3 turns, destiny got out 4 fate egg dragons...
Yes.  I feel your pain.  Had the same thing before.  In fact, thats the only time I remember losing to Destiny.  There might have been one other time, but otherwise shes pretty easy.

What deck did you use to examine the decks?
Code: [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 5f3 5f3 5f3 5f3 5f3 5f3 5rg 5rg 5rg 6rn 6rn 6rn 6ts 6u7 6u7 6u7 6u7 6u7 6u7 77c 77c 77i 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7jp 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q5 7q5 7q5 7q8 7q8 7qb 7qb
Had to add a Purify and Firestorm to get through the Water/Death deck.  Then I just skipped it each time after that.

UPDATE: Entropy Mark is CORRECT

Did not hit the other two decks: Mark of Time with sparks or Mark of Air with Light only.  Can anyone confirm if those decks still exist?
If not, just mark them as defunct.

Ferox isn't that hard...
After u challenged me to kill him, i've killed him 5 times out of 5 battles. I dun see why he's in the impossible section really
With RoL/Fractal/Hope?

I always skip Ferox because he heals too much.
