Competitions / Re: Forum name Card competition!
« on: July 20, 2010, 07:10:13 am »
numbers are allowed

and as for the ruling of the card, yes, I'd have to say that it is either OP, or if it kill itself automatically, then it's a joke card. Either way, it needs nerfing.
Actually have it do that after it attacks and it becomes a good card. Since it A)triggers death effects and B)deals damage.
Yeah, interesting.  A powerful Ball Lightning that can't be fractalled.  But instead of just making the HP 0, it has a description for why it dies.  Heh.

Incarnate / Re: Oracle : Incarnate
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:44:41 pm »
As for how the cards help:
Protect artifact for sundials, though it isn't really needed.
Quints for brimstone eaters and rustlers, becasue they're your only source of :fire and :life quanta.
Rays to generate light for rustlers to use.

Is that enough for you?
No, it is not enough.  I'm not trying to heat up the argument, but many come to these FG deck boards to find out what to use when they get the clue from the Oracle.  godofdeath500 criticized a deck that looks like it actually might have a chance, and then posted a BOGUS deck.

Why is it bogus?
This is against Incarnate, which has NO permanent control.  6 Enchant Artifacts are completely useless.
There is no shield in the deck.  6 Sundials is not going to work against this FG.
The mark is Entropy.  There is nothing in the deck that uses  :entropy.
12 little creatures might work.  But they don't attack while the sundials are up.  And 5 Quints?  So, the other 7 creatures are for Incarnate to build more bone walls and skeletons?

This is either a joke, or the poster wasn't paying attention when they put it together.

godofdeath500 should remove the deck.

From linked thread in OP:

WARNING!!!
Don't let the incorrect time stamp fool you, I made this deck and started this thread a long time ago. It was made before the Sundial nerf, and all the other recent changes to the game.
You could say this is the deck that "started it all" which gives it nice historic value but it also means that it's outdated and not designed to be used in Elements v1.15+.

It is now version 1.24.

You can search for your name in the member list and the link on your name will show your user number.
Or better yet, just click on your own name.  Heh.

If you click on Profile in the menu, though, it won't show it.

Octane / Re: From Oracle to Octane, no rares or upgraded cards
« on: July 17, 2010, 11:34:30 pm »
I used reflective shield instead of emerald with a mark of light and worked well.
Sure.  But I wanted to keep it simple with just 2 elements.   ;)

That could work. Even with 45 cards, you'll draw an emerald shield in your opening hand the majority of the the time, and within the first 10 cards 80% of the time. An early shield actually isn't even an absolute necessity; if you can get an antimattered EE, you can stall a few gasses off. Plus you have the heals.

Overall I do like the deck - it makes sense, countering everything Octane has. When I played it I was easily able to stall him. It may just be that I got very unlucky with the RNG (as I always do) and that "randomness" element in the AI's actions made it not firebolt my creatures. Or that octane just didn't draw any :).

He did use explosions on my pillars. I don't remember which color he focused on.
Got Octane today and added 2 Novas, 2 Plate Armors, and a Deflagration.  He decked out when I still had 9 cards to draw.  I was able to use 1 Plate Armor on the Abomination, so after Fire Shield it had 7 health, but Octane just sniped it 3 times.  I think, based on experience with Decay, that the AI will stop bolting creatures after it has hit a critical amount of the appropriate quanta, so the creatures may be useless in some games against him.  It might work better if they were played early.  But the additional 5 cards in no way hindered the stall, so that might be the whole trick--to just have enough cards.

General Discussion / Re: Weekly Featured Cards poll - Water

Now, if someone can find that Permafrost math thread for me. If I remember correctly, that thread says Permafrost Shield blocks approximately 53% of all attacks or something.
Except at turn 1, 100% goes through. Also, it's not 30% of the critters getting frozen, it's a 30% chance for each critter to get frozen.
[edit]
Turn 1: 100% of damage gets through.  (30% gets frozen, 3 turns wait on it).
Turn 2: 70% of damage gets through (30% has 2 turns of wait, another 21% gets 3 turns of wait).
Turn 3: 49% of damage gets through (30% - 1; 21% - 2; 14.7% - 3)
Turn 4: 34.3% of damage gets through (21% - 1; 14.7% - 2; 10.3% - 3; 30% unfreezes)
Turn 5: 54% of damage gets through (14.7% - 1; 10.3% - 2; 16.2% - 3; 21% unfreezes)
Turn 6: 58.8% of damage gets through (10.3% - 1; 16.2% - 2; 17.6% - 3; 14.7% unfreezes)
[/edit]

From a per creature perspective: on average, 3 of 10 attacks will leave the critter frozen for 3 turns. Hence, on average, for 10 successful attacks there's 9 turns of frost.
10 of 19 turns worth of attacks = 47% blocked.

One of us is obviously not quite right. If you can spot anything wrong with my arguing, please point it out. (Language is almost certainly wrong, but lets focus on the maths for now.)

Content as in smuglapses 'conveniently' place break in the tables so you can see some chicks boobs, or $$$'s text art? What do you mean exactly by 'content'?
Hey... you can see her face, too.  And what a yummy face it is.

When the Ultimate Profile was first put into place I did some googling and some trial and error.
As far as the transparency:
Code: [Select]
#header { filter: alpha(opacity=80); opacity: .8; background: none; }
#content_section { padding-top: 850px; filter: alpha(opacity=90); opacity: .9; background: none}
The
filter: alpha(opacity="number");
is for IE, I believe and the
opacity: "number";
is for FireFox and some other browsers.
Though, I guess the standards change, so either one could work/not work with different browsers, that's why I used both.

The number is just a percentage you want opaque vs. transparent.  So 100 (or 1) would be fully opaque, and 25 (or .25) would be 25% visible.
