Game Suggestions and Feedback / Newbie impressions

I'm very new to this game - won 52, lost 36, and playing against top 50 or elders - usually winning the elders, and if lucky winning the top 50's.
I've picked up 3 rare cards (miracle, pulveriser and vamire stilletto not much use in 1 pack!)
But it's stagnating quickly. The long and the short of it is that my black deck is as good as it gets without a wholesale change, and experimenting to see in what direction to change is expensive and pretty impossible- and would be awfully fustrating if the ideas for a new deck are plain wrong.
The jump from elder to top 50 is massive- elder sets are well thought out decks - with a few rares. THe top 50 are maxed out and I can't help thinking that those who were playing at my level when the game started had a far more benign top 50 to grind against.
THe long and the short is that you start off with far far too few cards.
What could be a very simple and elegant solution is to add a few extra quests, certainly a level of cards between top 50 and elder.
By beating these quests you open up a 2nd then a third full deck as 2 seperate quests.
THese decks must be propper playable decks (so must have a combination of creatures and pillars, and at least 30 cards) so that you can't just sell em all off.
Just an idea of what would keep me intereseted, because right now playing the same deck over and over is reaching a point....
So anyway, those are just my vague newbie thoughts.
