Trial of Water / Re: Phase 3 - Battle

I am the only challenger, so who exactly do I challenge?

This is very good for an objective look on decks. As Puppy pointed out the purpose of a deck can ask for a different QI, so claiming that a QI of 5 is optimal only goes for most speed decks I believe. Perhaps stall decks are better off suited with a QI of 7? Would SG's unupped rainbow give a QI of 7, assuming you count Quantum Pillars as 1/4 of each element. It would be a decent check.
I think I talked about this earlier. And like I said, that 5 was only a guess. And Yes, Quantum Pillars have a different optimal QI.
I know, but I mean you should take some basic decks that rely on stalling their way to victory. Perhaps the Aether deck did run on optimal QI because it's made to stall. If other stalling decks also run at roughly 7 then that problem is solved.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Giving Mono a Boost
« on: April 19, 2010, 02:34:12 pm »
gah, get that idea of mono decks out of your head!

rainbow decks are and will allways be stronger than monodecks all around. the reason is simple. monodecks are highly specialized. there are certain decks, that a monodeck can beat greatly and some decks, that are in most cases impossible to beat with the same mono deck. rainbow decks are the opposite. in most of the cases they are building slower within a game than a monodeck, while the player is rewarded with a huge advantage in versatility, leading to a much higher winning rate against all types of decks.

also, there are many cards in this game in general, but not many for each color. so rainbowdecks will generally have a huge variation, because of the many cards they can be built on. while monodecks from the same color will pretty much always look the same. if you would make monodecks much more powerful, every player would also need to built a comletely new deck, if he wants to change his strategy. he would have to upgrade all cards of the new color instead of switching just a few like he would have in a rainbow deck. this would turn the game into an even bigger grind feast.

no thanks. in my opinion, the balance of mono/rainbow decks is perfect as it is. especially since i made the experience, that im winning as much against rainbow decks (with my fire mono deck), as im loosing against them.
Did you read the topic? I think most people agree that these changes should only be applied for FG fighting, since mono decks are so ineffective against them.

The argument about having to upgrade all your cards to change strategies is not only wrong (unupped decks?) it's also rather short sighted. It would boost diversity and make having a Rainbow deck not such a bore (this is my opinion).

Omgarm, if you're trying to become the water master, why is your avatar a picture of a gravity pillar?
Because Omgarm challenged

challenged Essence just so he wouldn't go unchallenged.
No, no. I just like the Gravity pillar.

Voted for Essence, but Omgarm, so far, is the best challenger I have not voted for until now.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but what are those marks above some people's avatars? Like zanz has over 10 time marks? What are they?
Thanks! I am not expecting to win from Essence, but I'm going to try and steal as many votes as I can.

I like the image of the Gravity pillar :P

Situtation: A new player just came to you and ask you to help them with a deck that fits there playing style. be it mono duo or what ever

Q: How would you go about helping them out?
First I would welcome them :P Assuming said player described his/her playing style I'd suggest certain cards, find a way to make it work. Every play style can be effective in AI3 I think, so it would should be easy enough to get them going.

I'd also warn the player that while certain decks are fun they might be really slow at making money, which is what they will eventually need. I'd point him/her to the deck help section and the basic speed decks of every element. Tell him that he should check some specific topics in the Anti-FG section once he wants to get into the big leagues.

In short: help him first, then make him aware there are many more options.

Question for the two competitors:

What is your vision of Gravity? How do you think Gravity can beat any other element?

I'd go with Solid water if I had to pick but one phase. It's sturdier and stronger. It might not be a flexible and is more prone to break, but a decent set-up will make it last long enough to wear things down. It reflects me by being too lazy to get out of the way. Take the blow and then don't show it bothered you. Don't crumble until the very last moment, when you've given everything already.

I'll get this out first: Essence probably is a better master. He has more forum experience and more game experience. I challenged him just so he wouldn't go unchallenged.

But now that it has come this far I won't make this just a joke entry (it never was) so here are your answers:

1) I have experience with communities. Not much in this one yet, but time is but a factor. Getting used to people is easy if you lurk a bit (which I do between posts). I want to be a master to help people, make meaningful contributions. Not that you have to be a master to do that, but it stands out more.
2) Why water? Well, Essence was the unchallenged water master. Geez! Water is one of the decks that annoys me greatly in duos (poison </3), but haven't seen much use besides it. I think water has a lot of interesting synergies that may not be always obvious, against another water user anyway. I like Water's control/damage balance. Not to mention the most situational card of all: purify.

Crucible Archive / Re: Wither Beast | Wither Monster

This card isn't OP at all.

If you get a dragon out before this then you're essentially doing no damage. One SoD would require 7 turns for this creature to show any effect. A maxed granite skin would require 4 adrenalined Wither Beasts plus another spare one just to negate that. A Diamond shield negates them completely. Antimatter owns you really hard.

Keep it like this. Great card.
