Patch Notes and Development News / Re: Elements 1.29
« on: September 24, 2011, 02:57:00 am »
First off, I am loving this new patch. I am overjoyed that an under-used card like Flooding, which I consider to be a very interesting card, is finally getting used. The same goes for SoP, which, imo, seemed rather UP before this change. Seeing these changes made me want to test the combol out, so I decided to do so. However, during the testing,  I ran into two things that puzzled me and I decided to come here for answers.

1. After noticing the afore-mentioned buff to SoP, I decided to try a Fractal Mind Flayer deck. I made one, went to AI3 to test it out, and then noticed that by playing multiple SoPs I could gain the damage from extra SoP's, and still only wait 1 turn for the creatures to 'revive'. While this is pretty good, I was wondering if it was intentional?

2. Why was SoS given to AI with healing? I was testing the above SoP deck and I had 2hp, was about to be finished by AI's Owl's Eye, when BANG, I won. I was puzzled by this, wondering why I had won. Then I realized that the AI had multiple Empathic Bond's in play, along with a FFQ and a couple of other creatures. It had literally healed itself to death. So I was wondering why that particular AI had been given SoS, when it would be so easy for it to commit suicide?

Thanks in advance for any answers :)

Design Theory / Re: Steal My Idea!
« on: August 20, 2011, 04:59:11 pm »
Well, not quite sure if this is a good idea or not, but I was just thinking one day and this idea came to me:

Card name: Chlorophyll. ( Or Chlorophyll Injection)
Card type: Spell.
Element:  :life
Cost: ?? (Dunno how much it should cost to avoid being UP or OP)
Effect: Target creature's Element and ability cost switch to  :life .

In theory it can be used as CC for Life by casting it on an opponents creature, changing their ability cost to Life to avoid the use of said ability. The only thing I can see it being OP for would be by using it on Rustler, thereby giving infinite Life quanta. Although that could be fixed by saying it can't be used on creatures that already have Life as element/Ability.

Just a thought.

The Arena / Re: Arena help
« on: July 02, 2011, 04:01:03 pm »
Um, sorry if I'm butting in on any conversation/discussion or anything, but I'm having trouble deciding what to do with my Arena deck. I just spun a pharaoh in the Oracle, and I'm quite sure a good deck could be made around it, but three days ago I spun a Lava Golem and I put up a Golem Rush. So far its W/L ratio is 118-28, so I'm hesitant to put up a new deck when that one has already done so well and won me 200+electrum. Help?

P.S. I'm in Bronze League, so I don't really have many upped cards, so any new deck suggestions would have to be unupped/largely unupped for me to be able to use them.

Thanks in advance  :)

Religion / Re: The Problem of Pain
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:02:02 pm »
Before I try to answer, I just want to let you know I personally am a Christian, so my answer will be biased.

As to why there is suffering, it's because we chose suffering. I hope you don't mind a story to help me try and prove my point.

God made everything perfect, with no pain, and no evil. But, since he loves us, and wants us to love him back, he gave us a free will. Because for there to be love, true love, there has to be something equally as compelling as love. If you have a girl friend(Or boy friend), and love him/her, you want him/her to love you. If you point a gun at him/her and say "Do you love me?" He/She is probably gonna say yes cause they're afraid of what will happen if they don't. That's forced love. God didn't want us to be forced to love him. God also gave his angels free will, and Lucifer was jealous of God and wanted to have his power, so he resorted to treachery. As a result, God had to make a 'prison' for him and the angels that helped him. That is why he made Hell. See, he didn't make it for us. We choose to go to Hell by the way we act. Sort of like a person who goes and robs a bank. He could have chosen to not rob that bank, and thus avoid prison, but he robbed it anyway. Anyway, I'm getting off track. As we know, God said to Adam and Eve "You can have everything, just don't eat from that tree" Again, God wanted us to choose to love him, so he allowed that tree to be there so that we could choose either him, which was good, or the tree, which was wrong. Satan, of course, hated man because they were made in the image of God, so he took the form of a serpent and I think we all know what happens next. Eve could have chosen to resist, but she didn't, and she ate the apple, thus bringing evil onto humanity.

So, basicly, we were given a free will to decide if we want to do good, or evil. We chose evil, and now we're dealing with the repercussions. As to that story you linked.. (In response to the first chapter about why bad things happen) In Job, God allowed Satan to do anything to Job, but kill him. God doesn't hurt people. He tells Satan that he can hurt them. This (I believe) is done for various reasons. In Job, it was done because Satan said that "If you take away his possesions and blessings, he will curse you" So, God allowed Satan to do that to test Job's faith in him. Wheter or not this is always the case, I'm unsure.

As for the second and third chapter about natures:

Again, God made us with free wills to choose right from wrong. Everything was perfect then, and we knew nothing about evil. God made us pure and perfect, so he isn't responsible for the fact that we chose evil.

Awesome! I usually end up with only one or two creatures to work with :/ But if everything goes well, I can get FFQ and Mitosis Dragons out. Then its usually a win. I've played a few more games, (about 6 again) And got a win against Paradox.

Alebono: I've come to the conclusion that his FG should be skipped, cause of how outragously fast he can get Dragons/Armagio's out with Momentum and Overdrive.

Elidnis: While he is beatable, he got set up much too fast for me and ended up in a loss.

Graviton: Got Otyughs out early that ate my FF's.

Decay: Continous Fractal Pest's sucked most of my Quanta, and did a goodly amount of damage. Eventually, FG stole my Dim Shield and ended up in a death. Maybe you could find a way to slip a Sanctuary or two in to avoid Pests and get a bit of healing in? Cause I think I went up against Dream Catcher and Discord is potentially annoying.

Paradox: He PU'd my Dragon and blessed it, but chained Dim Shields saved me while I spammed FF's and Dragons via Queen and Mitosis. Miracles are pretty dang annoying, but with enough Dragon's out I won with 16hp.

So, I've noticed that this does pretty well against Paradox cause the FG has no CC, thus allowing you to get FFQ and Dragon's out without worry. However, if he PU's your dragon, I say cast Quint on his dragon to prevent him from Blessing it.

Wow, you got like 4 of this deck's worst gods.
Akebono, Scorpio, Destiny, and EP will ruin this deck =P

As for Serket, you really have to chain shields early or you WILL lose to poison.
As for Elidnis...hmm... maybe more pillars?
Destiny can be beat by getting a REALLY EARLY quinted steam machine and stalling until it had enough attack to overpower destiny. Because of her demons, fireflies won't work.

Im working on another verson with more pillars as I post this, so hopefully it will work well =)
Thanks for taking time to test.
Are you kidding? I'm enjoying this! And, I am happy to report I have a win against Elidnis! And its with EM.  Heres how it went:

First off, it was very rough in the beginning. I didn't get any quints until I was at 36 hp, at which point I got a quinted FFQ out. However, he had 2 Litharids out and I Afla'd one, but the other Lobo'd all of my FF's, making them useless except for Bond fodder. The Pulvie saved my butt by destroying Elid's Bonds and Water towers (Which was almost useless).  At 77hp I was thinking I might deck out, since the FG put up Jade Shield, effectively reducing all my damage to 1 per creature. But, I got a Dragon out with Mitosis and Quint, allowing me to continously use mitosis until I won.

Needless to say, this deck is a slow starter, but once it gets going and going properly, it has real potential to OWN False Gods, if you get a decent starting hand and if the FG has a slow start.

Edit: I have yet to try the new version, but once I have more time to test, I'll try it out :)

Well, yeah I was having a bit of bad luck on the first two games, so I wouldn't exactly say those are the decks fault. The Sun Dials are a very nice touch with the low cost and extra draw power/stalling. However, after about 6 more games I've come to the conclusion that this is a little bit on the slow side. I'm either lacking an overall amount of quanta, or I'm drowning in one type of quanta while the rest is bone-dry.

Here is a quick synopsis of the 6 games I've played: *

Elidnis: Loss. I had a horrible draw here, with very few pillars or anything useful. Whether or not this is the decks fault or not I'm not sure.

Scorpio: Loss. Again, a pretty bad draw and not being able to get the right cards in time was my downfall.

Destiny** : Loss.  This was one of my better games, and I was able to get the FG down to about 50 hp before I died. However, I was able to get a quinted Steam Machine out, along with a Quinted FF and FFQ. The reason FF was quinted was because the FG continously killed any FF's and that was the only way to survive.

Eternal Phoenix: Loss. The FG got set up very fast, and I found myself below 50% HP very quickly. Also, the quanta gain was very spread out and I was unable to play the cards I needed when I needed to play them.

Akebono: A bit of a slow start, but once the FG got Overdrive and Unstoppable on his Dragons/Armagios, I was finished.

Serket: I held out rather well against this one, but it was a pretty slow start. However, once FFQ and FF's started coming, it got easier. The poison from Eclipsed Scorpions that start with 0 att (Gosh I can't remember their names) killed me :/ This one wasn't exactly the decks fault, since I'm sure I could have done better.

I'm going to keep playing until either I hit 20 games, or until I get at least one win.

* = All 6 of these are played in trainer, but I'm not sure if this effects gameplay.
** = I'm not quite sure if this was Destiny or not, cause they had a Maxwell's demon out.

Well, it seems like it could work, and so far I've played 3 games with it in the trainer. Unfortunantly, all three of these were a loss. The first two were against Ferox, and I had plenty of useful cards, but both times I only had 2 pillars and died from lack of quanta. The third one, which was against Fire Queen, was the exact opposite. I kept drawing Quantum Pillars, and only had 1 quinted Steam Machine out. (Which I got to 40+ attack 8) ) The only reason I survived for how long I did was because of chained Dim Shields. Gravity shield was maddeningly unhelpful, and I found myself discarding it. I'll keep trying this deck out in trainer and see how well it does against other FGs and hopefully come up with ways to make it better.

Puppy, after some thinking I made another version and that will be the one tested. I'm aiming for a 1st turn mind gate to start racing with FG's.
This is the new version of this deck. It will have stats. I will later on replace half if the towers with Pendulums. Since this only benefits you against Quicksand and never hurts, the stats won't be much different.
Code: [Select]
6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6rn 6rn 6rn 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80b 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80e 80e 80j 80j 80j 80j 80j 80j

6 ??? are mind gates.

I was testing this deck in trainer fully un-upped, and it isn't working well, can you tell me what cards absolutely have to be upped so I can make this? Thanks in advance  :)
