Deck Help / Arena deck for Fireflies (Level 9)

Oracle gave me Fireflies. My starter deck and hence most of my cards in this alternate account are Light so that's a good fit. I'm very new at deck-building, inspired to learn by Arena. I need a lot of help. Comments, please!!!

Gold League Decks / Re: What deck did you submit today? ( Gold )

I am so happy! I finally have a deck doing well. I put myself through remedial deck building school and it's starting to pay off a little. It's current rank is 158, only 3 wins and 0 losses but that's still the best I've done yet.

Oracle gave me Earth Pendulum. I built an Earth Gravity duo. Six SoG's, six Black Holes, then just a mix of whatever Earth or Gravity cards I have, including Stone Dragon, Titanium Shields, Plate Armor, Four Pulvy's (two upped), Earthquakes, Basilisk Blood, Iridium Warden, two Elite Otys, Steel Golem, two PA's, then lots of Earth Pillars and Gravity Pillars. Mark of Earth.

It will probably plunge like a rock today (get it?, rock = Earth, plunge = Gravity  ), but I don't care. I am a noob at deck building so I'm psyched that I kinda sorta did something that actually rose in rank.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

I am starting to see more and more good decks in the arena, both creative and standard. I am in Gold league, and I was just playing Bronze league to gather stats on a deck. I figured it would be easy EM's and Bonus spins. But I just lost three in a row, and it was fun! Good decks, good challenges, and just plain fun! And each one was completely different. I think it just took a few days of shakedown to get things balanced right.

Gratz to the community! Gratz to Zanz! Way to go to recharge Elements the Game!

Anyone else seeing the same thing? And how many people are playing above or below their league?

from my experience leagues like gold and plat currently loss > win in rating points so you can have negative rating with more wins than losses
I assume this is in place to remove farm decks and low hp decks faster as they will lose rating(and rank) quickly

It annoys me when people say that creativity is better than tried-and-true. The only case when this is so is if you can take advantage of the element of surprise, which doesn't really apply in a game with so limited options.

I'm going to say this right here and right now:

Tried and true is fine. But when you've got 80% of the decks in arena using tried and true, that pisses me off. Elements is a game based upon creativity. In a made up world of "Elementals" for chrissake! Everything about the game is creative, except for decks. So few people are making the effort to actually build a new deck and instead look on the forums for one that's already made for them.

That irks me to no end. So while I have no issue with using tried-and-true every now and again, I have a problem with it being used constantly.

Do you have problems with chess players using tried and true moves?

Just a thought.

I'm having the same problem with rating that others have reported. I don't understand these stats:

Rank 580
Gold League
Rating -87

Won 37
Lost 11
Age 2
HP 121

How can my rating be negative when my won/lost is positive? I can understand rank of 580. That would mean there were 579 people with better won/lost numbers. But negative rating with more wins than losses????

i don't get it. Help, please?

I like the Mind Flayer plus Butterfly Effect deck. I spun Mind Flayer for Arena and was playing around with the same idea, so I decided to use the card codes to search, since I couldn't believe someone hadn't already thought of it, and there you were! I was looking to see how anyone else had powered it. I started with just QT's and Aether mark, but it wasn't balanced right. Now I'm going to profit from your experience and keep tweaking.

Is there some confusion here about "high rank" and "low rank"?

A really good deck has a "low" rank, ie, the lower the number the better the deck. A rank of 1 is better than a rank of 100. But it's an easy mistake to make to call a deck with a larger rank number, ie a not so good deck, a high rank deck.

Just wanted to clarify. Does that make sense?

Here is a fat version of anti-platinum deck. Compared with my smaller one, here are some permanents protected (plus 2 PA-s), 1 additional Fractal to guarantee a lot of damage, 4 Towers, plus 1 Wings, Sanctuary and Pandemonium. Don't even know which one is better, but I usually prefer fatter ones anyway

This deck is really good. I've been winning against all opponents, up to and including Arena Platinum and Half-Bloods and False Gods as well.
